I've found this thread interesting as my path took several similar turns to this point. I began stepping away from Christianity (ever try to explain the Bible to two very discerning and intelligent pre-adolescents?) before I knew where I was going and eventually found myself researching the Goddess. That, too, seemed unbalanced as I am a firm believer in the balance of all things. So, the search went on... I then came to Wicca, being very drawn to the magick of herbs. However, I found that did not satisfy me, given its solely duo-theistic slant. Now, I am studying Druid lore (mostly Welsh, due to the proximity of a welsh druid grove) and have found what seems a better fit just now in druid study. I feel a pull toward the Ogham and other aspects of the druids' beliefs that fit well. Then again, I have always been fascinated by Native American beliefs as well. I doubt the hunger to study and learn will ever cease pushing me and prodding me to learn more. I am less worried about defining myself at this point than learning all I can. Perhaps one has to lose one's self completely to find one's self again...? 100,000 welcomes before you to PaganMystics. You may enjoy our Welsh recon. threads though they're a little bare at the moment. I happen to agree with everything you just said, the more you learn at times the more one hungers to know more, but on the other hand, the more I learn the less I seem to know.

Thanks for the warm welcome! The only reason i've connected to the Welsh path is that the only local grove I can find is of a Welsh bent (a seed grove of ADF). I would say I am more generally Celtic, perhaps more Scottish, as i love anything Scottish. But, I want to learn it all and so am studing the Welsh lore right now. I am fascinated by the Ogham but Summerlands course seems lost in the wind at the moment and I've not found anything else on-line (I am mostly homebound with MS and pain, etc.). I would welcome any and all recommendations you have.

This is also part of my path right now. I want to read quite a bit but I don't have money to buy books. The books recommended are definitely on my books wish list. The issue I have is Celtic/Wicca/Druidism all appeal to me. I'm not sure what really is my path & I'm trying to read as much as I can to help that path...I want to choose but I am having difficulty doing so. Celtic Wicca or Faerie Wicca or....see? The choices are similar but there is a path there for me. That is why I asked the question so to help me sort out which path is closer to what I believe. Senbecc has been amazing thus far as well as celticgh with her input has helped me more. lol I feel like Johnny Five in Short Circuit! More input! lol Aye, I'm in your boat with finding the right path. Celtic, faerie, wicca ahhh. It's all so interesting and there is so much to learn and read about every one of them. I'm just trying to soak up as much as I can to make the best well informed decision. Plus it never hurts to know about other religions.

Mostly Mythology is what really gets me the most. That is where I know that I belong. The old Path from long ago. So, since I have no money, I am reading the threads & the websites people give (I love this!). It is helping. I just hope I can finally be able to hellp someone else here to get them in the Path that is right for them...It is nice to meet you, Wren. I have no magical name as of yet because one hasn't really called out to me yet....

Nice to meet you, too. As it has been a warm welcome here in general.
I am using the lore from this site and from mary jones for my welsh studies, as I like to look at the lore itself as much as possible, as well as other people's thoughts on it. I have also been working on the Ogham thread here, as well as at ADF's OGO site.
As for my name, I sat out in my garden and meditated a long time, contemplating just that question. Opened my eyes and saw the first wren ever visiting my birdbath. Knowing the Eagle/wren story, and being in a wheelchair, I liked the connection and it felt right instantly. And, in Welsh, it's Dwyr. Like that, too! I use Wren SkyWolf, because I have also always loved wolves and the photos of the wolf star.

For me...I've used Souldragon for many years as a RPG name. It was a drop off a name a friend used before in one Moondragon. While I liked it, Souldragon seemed more fitting for what I was thinking. I may use it as it seems to be the only thing that sticks out of the many things I do. I'm trying to connect with my ancestry of Irish/Scottish....I'm feeling at home here & trying to learn as much as I can. BTW, I like the name Wren Skywolf....

I've ended up doing a lot of website research as well. Not entirely sure where I fit yet though. It's been two years since I've started really, seriously looking and it seems the more I read the less I know. Does that make sense?

Yes, it does...I still think the primal thoughts are usually the way to go. My feeling is somewhat of a Celtic Wiccan but I do feel drawn to Druids. So, I read & find what my beliefs fall in to. So far, these two haven't fallen too far from what I believe so....

Until the class starts however perhaps we can discuss some of the basics of what the ogham mean and how they are used. Thank you for these links! As I said in the other thread about the Ogham, I am mostly confused by the vast differences in this between those of Graves school and those of, say, Ellis. The idea of twenty letters, versus 18. Trees versus why they could not be trees... Argh! I suppose I should just read everything and find the truth within myself... But, having said that, any advice would be most appreciated. This calls to me in a way that I cannot ignore...
