Has anyone read for the new year? Whatever form you use, would you be willing to post your reading here for us to share?
My Ogham for the New Year
I have read my Ogham for the New Year, using all the fews for the a single reading (first time I've tried this). The fews are cast out in front of me, closest being my past, middle being the present and the furthest ones being my future.
Past
Luis, reversed – Defences down, vulnerability, danger
Ruis, reversed – accounts to be settled, addressing regrets, purging humiliation, tending one's one patch
Saille, reversed – Being out of your depth, overwhelmed, lost, need to surface for light and air
Huath, reversed – An absolute barrier, necessity, anguish, humiliation.
Tinne – Challenge, testing, trial, position under attack, emotional and spiritual testing, issues of defence, need to take action, arm yourself for the fight, transformation, strengthening, tempering.
Gort, reversed – Challenge, difficulty, restriction
Straif – pain, wounding, damage (physical or emotional), a thorny experience, division, separation, conflict, the need to address this at its roots, disruption, difficulty and adversity.
Ailm, reversed – Fear, terror, anguish, confusion, fright, paralysis, need to untie emotional knots
Present
Beth – Old phase concluded, purification, renewal, beginnings, heralds of change, the appearance of the new, constant change, cyclical law, process
Fearn – Counsel, guidance, oracular knowledge, sacred word, whisperings, correct advice from person in authority, the sage within, spirit guides, inspiration, creativity.
Nion – Shape-shifting, transformation, changes, growth, fate and destiny, pathways, possibilities, options, potential, cycles of change, evolution, crisis, expanded reality
Muin – work completed, a project successfully concluded, harvesting, festivity, celebration, divine ecstasy, inspiration, fun and feasting, festival life, seasonal celebration.
Ngetal – medicine, herblore, healing, panacea, cleansing, sweeping out negativity, keeping one's 'house in order', a purgative, complementary medicine, strengthening health and vitality, the healer's art.
Eadha – Fear, testing, right of passage, conquest of fear, 'feeling the fear and doing it anyway', befriending one's fears, warrior spirit, spiritedness, self-confidence, steadfastness, courage, resolution
Idho – Transitions, things ending, passing, dying, fading away, withering, an exit, a gateway, a grave, a sign of death, transformation, renewal, rebirth, an opening, a new element approaching.
Future
Úr - Lovers, courtship, consummation, partnership, relationship, mutual acceptance, conquest of the shadow (in love), putting down roots, flowering together, sharing a space, living together.
Onn - Sexuality, arousal, Eros, passion, attraction, masculine and feminine elements, binding force, being in the body, erotic change, health and vitality, erotica, enticements, foreplay.
Duir – Endurance, duration, established strength, maturity, nobility, an established mode of life, responsible vocation, strong foundation, progress, protective force, goodwill.
Coll – Wisdom, knowledge, enlightenment, inspiration, the springs of knowledge, deep knowing, practical and grounding knowledge.
Quert – Health, vitality, healing, regeneration, recovery, psychological integration, wholeness, rest, respite, relaxation, recuperation.
This was a fascinating exercise and, is always the case when I read my Ogham, frighteningly accurate. The New Year seems to hold much promise for me!
It would be interesting to share these here and then go back over them next year!
