I need to do some research for a paper on celtic history. I would like to focus on Scotland and her history, particularly as it pertains to the Picts and Scotti. Any suggestions of books, websites, articles that you would highly recommend?

Any suggestions of books, websites, articles that you would highly recommend? I've been looking into a site that as it stands right now, I would indeed highly recomend. I happen to know that they also have Scottish and Welsh texts as well. When I get home I will put up their link to the Scottish texts for you.

The website wikipedia can sometimes be useful as well.

www.maryjones.us/ctexts/index_scottish.htmlYou might try this link as well as the one Marcus have provided, many of those on this one have texts listed that they don't have translations for (don't ask me why). Anyhow, I look forward to reading these to perhaps make some needed additions to our Scottish and Welsh reconstruction boards.

Thanks to both of you! I've visited maryjones before and spend a great deal of time at sacred-texts, thanks to previous posts you both have made here. So far, I've also read: "The Druids" by Peter Ellis (general study, not for this paper specifically) "Picts, Gaels and Scots" by Sally Foster "Before Scotland" by Alaistar Moffat "Kings of Celtic Scotland" by Benjamin Hudson Also working with www.clannada.org and other websites material I have yet to receive my copies of "The Silver Bough" by McNeill and other books. What I'm discovering, newbie that I am, is that 'Celtic' is very different than I first thought. What a lesson this has been for me! (ardri would be proud!) My paper is going in a very different direction than I first planned, which has been a very interesting turn of events for me.

I thought it was just me! Reading Moffat's 'Before Scotland' now. So far the only problem I have is the very graphic description of how they kill baby birds...
