there are, but they're rare. saving someone's life at risk to one's own is selfless as long as they don't wish for anythign in return.

motherhood is good for the first years because they dont know they are giving back.....and senbecc sometimes we are ready for the funny farm BEFORE we are bled dry.

i was thinking motherhood too, but the kids give back tenfold. Sure once you're bled dry and ready for the funny farm and this is why mommy takes breaks. maybe not to las vegas everytime....but definitely breaks. Even away for a few hours(hell minutes some days) really makes a difference. Don't want momma going postal ;D

i was thinking motherhood too, but the kids give back tenfold. I don't think motherhood is selfless at all. Tell me that the idea of unconditional love isn't a selfish reason. How many women do y'all know that have had a child, at least partially, in the hopes of getting their man more commited to them? Motherhood could be selfless I suppose but I have yet to see it done in a completely selfless manner. And then there is simply satisfying our own urge to procreate. It's really rather selfish when you start looking at all the varied reasons women have children.
