Chasing Dragons
Chasing dragons by the moon across a red plain,
Immortality ripe upon the tree, ready for those bold enough,
Can you feel the silent music within you?
Can you feel it beckoning you onwards to something great?
Something greater than all that which has come before?
Chasing dragons by the moon, and the music’s chasing you.
Run forward blindly, eyes full of glory and dragons gold,
Immortality ripe upon the tree, ready for those bold enough,
Nothing can stop you now, you can feel the shackles breaking.
Or were they guiding hands let loose?
Can you feel the music’s beckon?
Can you keep step with its deadly dance?
Or shall you stumble, chasing dragons by the moon?
Your heart begins to burn now, blaze with anticipation,
Immortality ripe upon the tree, ready for those bold enough,
The dragon is so close now, your eyes bloody red
In the reflection of the great wyrm’s wine splashed scales.
Can you dance with the music’s mad beat?
Can you possess the music, or shall it possess you?
The moon stares on as music weaves and man and dragon dance.
Your desires so near as the dragon draws close, eyes consumed by desire,
Immortality ripe upon the tree, taken at last by one who was so bold,
But perhaps this fruit is bitter, bitter as a dragon’s breath,
And as enthralling as the weave of a song too quick.
Were you so obsessed with the dragon and his music you could not see?
What would you sacrifice to catch the dragon and dance his dance?
Was the price of immortality too high?
Run, run across a far red plain, weaving music as you move,
Immortality ripe upon the tree, ready for those bold enough,
Your scales shimmer and shine in the bloody moonlight,
Lost forever in the dragon’s song you sacrificed all to attain.
Did you mean for things to come this far, red dragon?
Do you wish now you’d ignored the melody and watched the world?
A new man chases dragons by the moon, eyes full of glory and gold,
Will he be bold enough to reach out and pluck immortality from its limb?
Will he, too, lose himself with the dragon in the music’s mad step?
Immortality ripe upon the tree, ready for those bold enough,
Can you feel the silent music within you?
Can you feel it beckoning you onwards to something great?
Something greater than all that which has come before?
Chasing dragons by the moon, and the music’s chasing you.
