I am very frustrated. No matter how hard I try, no matter what deities or angels I pray to, no matter what crystal/gemstone I put under my pillow, I cannot for the life of me remember my dreams. I am having problems with meditation too. I get as relaxed as can be, but no messages or nothing! I usually fall asleep, even sitting up. Any helpful hints?

I had the damnedest time learning to remember my dreams...What I did was just tell myself I'd remember them. Out loud before I went to sleep, and I've never had a night without one since. Which there is a downside to, the other night I dreamed I got shot by an AK47 defending a warehouse for who even knows what reason...It was crazy Heard the thudding of bullets, and I woke up breathless...However theres good ones too. and everything in between. I think you need to make a conscious affirmation, order yourself...It worked for me anyway.

This may not work very well during the week (or however your work schedule is), but may help during the times you can do it. Put a tape recorder by your bed where you can reach it easily. Set your clock to awaken you every few hours and tape whatever you remember, then go back to sleep. After a while you may be able to go to a notebook and writing when you awaken in the mornings.

You may be trying too hard...or have told yourself...you can't. Since you are having problems with meditation too, you need to work more on relaxation....and I would start with bedtime.
What time do you usually go to bed, what do you watch on TV, what do you eat. What type of mental stress or stimulation do you have. All these can be culprits that will rob you of the type of sleep you need. Does your mind 8-track (keep going and you can't turn it off). These are just a few things to think about. All of them can affect your rest as well as your concentration to meditate.
If you want to share with us, we can offer you some insight and help.

hmmm......I usually go to bed between 10 and 11. I won't have TV in the bedroom, so I usually watch with my partner until I go to bed . I am trying to not have as much caffeine before bed, that might make it harder for me to get to REM sleep.
I have lots of mental stress, have been having difficulties in my partnership, but have been going to counseling and have started meds for that.
I haven't had a dream that I can remember since I was pregnant with my oldest daughter about 8 years ago. Once she was born, it's like it just turned off. I am sure that I dream, I just don't remember anything. People talk about being able to grab the dream right when they wake up. I don't get anything. I've left the notebook and pen by the bed, just to have them gather dust.
I've pretty much written it off. It just gets me more frustrated trying and that sure doesn't help. I figure that in a past life I was too much in a dream world, so now I have to try to live this life in the mundane. I read that somewhere and it seemed to fit. Or maybe if I quit trying it will work.
I am open to any and all suggestions.

Wow I could imagine just not dreaming at all, cause I dream all the time and I can never forget that whole dream , which sometimes I wished I did. I usualy dream right after I create a chanting song or a chant period. Also If I go to sleep from 1am to 4am I dream like crazy, then hear those damm voices whispering. So allot of times in a wierd way I won't sleep between 12 to 4am, call it crazy but thats what I do. If you ever want me to create a chant for you just PM me and we can create one for you, and just maybe that dream can come back in your life.

wow...MysticalSoul is pretty good too.
What kind of relaxation do you do before you go to bed. relaxing bath with aroma therapy ...playing soft relaxing music.
I know that when you are stressed, it makes a big difference.
Sometimes, if you find a time you can call your own...create a private place, even if it just a chair in a corner, a walk in the quiet, walk around the yard...anything that gives you a space of your own to unwind by yourself.
Most people do dream...but not all remember.
Just relax, it will come.
