www.savethedingo.comFraser Island in Queensland Australia, is an amazing and beautiful place. It is the largest sand island in the world, and is just south of the Great Barrier Reef. The island gained World Heritage Listing in 1992 - one of the reasons for this status includes the islands population of Dingoes. The Fraser Island dingo population have been DNA tested, and proven to be a pure breed, believed to be the last left in the world. The population is only around 120 - so has quite a fragile gene pool. So it is hard to understand why the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) use culling (killing) as one of its tactics to 'manage' the dingoes.
