Well....the reactions were far less than I thought it would've been considering....I'm still miffed about it but, alas there isn't anything else to debate on it. It seems cut dry. No one sees a real problem with it. Well, there are a few reactions but they are simple jokes & puns off it. Everyone wants a piece of the pie....More than likely, this will go through, the school will more than likely have a retraction & we'll see more people suing over religious persecution. Seems a shame though as this woman has no clue as to what damage she could be doing.....I said my peace. i understand your despair over this issue, i just dont know that anything can be done about it. i mean look at pagan history, christians wiped us almost completely out! burned us, hung us, and tortured all that did not follow the one god they decided was best for their world. these people have a ruthless past. they will do vile things "in the name of their god" ! i do not see things changing unless a pagan came into a great power position in politics. then we would have to hope they were not assassinated. why do you think so very many pagans are still in the closet? You're right, I know. But it really burns me that the lawyers handling this are ADF (ones for religious freedom). Christianity needs no freedom, Pagans need it. For many reasons...

For many reasons...Well, while I agree that slapping a crown of thorns on your kid to prove your religious points is a bit idiotic...To say the absolute least, I also feel that any religion should have the freedom to do and practice as they see fit as far as the goverment goes. It also becomes important to remember that Pagans too have had some ruthless pasts as well. I think we should each just work to try to find a medium for living together since we're not really going to change eachother's minds. Yes, using your kids is wrong but *if* the kid was there as Jesus, then he should have had the right to be Jesus all day long IMO.

It's untouched now.....GEEEE
I've said this before but, if the boy WANTED to be Jesus, then this case is good the whole way. While I may be a little steamed, I am not against someone exihibiting their religion. My biggest issue with this was that the mother was told ahead in advance that her child couldn't participate unless he was in a costume. Now, while any costume is good (trust me, I had a ton of good costumes for Halloween), I don't think Jesus was a great idea in this instance. Mostly because the mother is completely against this Pagan holiday & decided to act against the holiday. When her action did not fare as she had hoped, she cries foul. The kicker for me was the Crown of Thorns. Being a recovering Catholic & all, it reminded me of quite a few things that we shall not discuss.....

I reread and reread this post. I have to confess I gave a flippant response, however I don't feel the same zeal on this matter as you do. A) Costumes should be optitional, not wearing one should not be a punishment. B) Opinions of others should matter, deleting or changing them do not change how others feel, or how the person doing the changing feels. I'm sure we all have sore spots on certain subjects, and we each need to work through them ourselves. I found that talking about the irritating things in life frees me up, decreases my stress levels. I will tell you one thing, one of my defenses is joking, I try to defuse situations this way it was a learned response. Please don't stop these posts, they are informative and need to be told. stormcat.

I guess part of my problem is that I see too many Pagans living in hiding without religious freedom. That & the mother knew so far ahead could've contested this issue by stating that her child is of a religion that does not condone actions of dressing up for Halloween. He should've been, then, allowed to participate without dressing up. Since she went the route she did, thus pointing out witches & devil's as part of her argument, really made me need to point that out. It was like she was looking for the fight & found it. When, in fact, there really shouldn't have been a fight at all. It could've been avoided by that first suggestion. Religious freedom is something we all deserve but I wouldn't take my religion & put it on one of....well, they really don't have a holiday of their own, do they? I mean there's All Saints day but that's related to Halloween....Lent is related to Easter, Little Christmas (Epiphany-spelling?)....I guess not....oh well, I can't do that now can I? lol..... So I can't make that point....Moot....oh well....anyone got pudding?

Hmmm, I personally don't hide my beliefs. If someone straight up asks me I tell them the truth. I don't wear a t-shirt that says "PAGAN" on it. lol I will tell you a great truth, I'm going through a rough patch right now with someone close to me. Accusing me of various nefarious crimes against humanity. No it it ain't easy being pagan.....save me some puddin'>^..^<
