To a Gaelic Traditionalist family and tuath are everything. how important is the family in your Traditions? I agree, family is the means by which we come to physically exist. The bloodlines created from the first ancesters down through the ages right down to your grandparents and parents. That is who the Gods have become for me.

For me, family is not only a tie to the present but a strong tie to the past. Honoring the ancestors who are still are part of me is a most important part of my ritual and my life. They are ever-present.

Don't forget the future. ::)Yikes! The future is running around screaming at one another at the moment! How can I forget them? Selective forgetting, I suppose! Actually, you are right to remind me. My daughter is part of this journey I'm on, ten years old and holds the wisdom of the ages. An old soul in new sneakers, her teacher once said. When she was two and speaking sentences for the first time, she told us that her Grandmom Blanche chose her for us because she knew we needed her; that Grandmom Blanche selected her and sent her to us as our new baby. She spoke of her grandmother in exact and loving terms. as if they were old friends. Blanche passed over three years before my daughter was born. It was the first time I 'saw' the past, present and future together and felt it connect. Sad how we train those thoughts and abilities out of our kids these days... They are born knowing so much and our culture simply takes it away, if we let that happen... Even now, though we've told that story time and time again, she doesn't 'remember' it any longer... Yes, past, present and future family... (even if they drive me MAD!)

i don't have an established tradition, and my family don't practice with me. i'm the only pagan in my family. family doesn't play any real part in the way i practice and worship. family is important to me though. i will do wahtever i can to protect my family. i plan to have a family of my own one day and i will do everything within my power to keep them safe.
