COLOR MEANINGS
Over the years colors have come to mean many things to many cultures and peoples; thus colors have become rich in hidden meanings and symbolisms. The foundation for this has been built on centuries of history, tradition, and beliefs. Scientific experiments have been and are continuing to be done on how colors affect human beings. Color environments have been changed in both hospitals and prisons due to experiments that have proven certain color surroundings aid in healing, rest, and calming. Colored glasses help dyslexic’s ability to read. Warm, vibrant colors can revive and energize , while the cool, passive colors can calm and relax. Interior decorators use color to affect mood and ambiance. You can try it for yourself quite easily. The next time you know you are going to need extra energy during the day, wear something red. If you know you will need peace and calmness, try wearing blue.
So, as you can see, colors have vibrations that correspond to influences you may want included in your workings. You can achieve this color resonance through use of natural colored light from nature, candles in colored holders, colored candles themselves, colored light bulbs, or colored gels over any light source.
The following list is a guide to some colors and their meanings as I have come to know and use them. If you would like to explore the uses of colors and chromotherapy further, there are many books available for those who are interested.
