But yes, I consider myself a witch To help you understand the meaning of this thread, (perhaps you already do) we came here from a very very closed minded group. Threads such as "mis-use" of the word Wicca and some other threads brought people to the point that they were afraid to use the term at all. This IMHO is complete and utter B.S. for all the reasons I listed on myspace...Maybe I should post that reply here. It seems like it was better than any of the last ones.

At this point in my life I consider myself pagan. Just pagan. I have no issues with those that call themselves witch, Shamwich, Chrispwich or ObiWanKenobi. I don't like people to be defined with labels.
As human beings we are so much more than what we choose to call ourselves...

Yeah, while she is 100% welcome to her views, I was personally put off by her constant informing of other posters, that they were under the "assumption" that they were Wiccans, that no one on the board was evidently..Including herself. The everyone's "fuzzy" but me mind-set is just maddening at times.

I do not consider that I call myself Druid, but that I AM Druid. So you've found your path...Good luck with it.

OK, first I have to say Senbecc, that was wonderfully said, but you didnt answer the question. I consider myself a witch, as I was declared one in a Witch tradition. (I am male, and a witch - I am not a wizard - I may be old, but I'm not THAT old!) I also consider myself a christian, because I believe in the teachings of christ, as I interpret them. But do I call myself a witch? No - I mainly just call myself James. LOL Well, I do use the terms Bard and/or Druid to keep people from becoming confused, though I don't hang on the title to much. It seems important to me to remember how seldomly the Celts (As well as many of the other practices like "witch") ever actually named their beliefs and/or practices. Though like everyone else in my beginning time I used titles. However I've since learned that it's not important (to me) to categorize through titles. I was thinking on the subject and have come to the conclusion that this reply is not entirely accurate. As I watch others fight for their right to call themselves Wiccan, Witch or otherwise, I come to realize howmuch the title of Filidh and Druid actually mean to me. Druidry IS my path. It is a title which I have poured night and day to EARN. I have become a poet, a magician, a historian, a judge of truths, a beginner..A child in learning, a sage in mastery....I AM the three cauldrons of Amergin. Druidism has thus become my life. Sometimes I see 18 yr. olds claiming the title of Druid who obviously have no knowledge of the subject other than that the practice is of Celtic origin, and I am insulted after all the work and study I myself and others have put into it, some more so than myself. Anyone who has touched the five points of a Druid and has experienced Imbas is a Druid. Anyone can become a Druid, however not just anyone who claims the title IS a Druid. I maintain that Wicca like Druidry is NOT an exclusively "initiated" path. Initiation can come from the gods, priests, or the earth it's self. Those who put the proper study and time into their paths have every right to claim the path. I have put myself into the places of the Wiccans who endure their titles being stripped from them after their hard work and study, and I tell you, My title is precious, it is who, and what *I* am. I have poured over books, Internet, and the instructions of others to achieve what I have achieved for the title. For my beliefs and understandings, I have been in fist fights, flame wars, I have even been banned from boards. However this much I can promise. While my methods are not always agreed with, smiled upon, or even met with gently with out a fight...My words and methods ALWAYS come from a place of truth, Which no matter how "fuzzy" the practitioner may be, is what we each struggle to achieve. I have NO regrets. For I have become...And through this act of becoming have summoned from within myself the power of making as well. Who but I knows the secret of the unhewn dolmen's arch? The title of "Wiccan" doesn't belong to just any who claim it. It belongs to those who EARN it. From those who do, let no-one strip it. -Senbecc Resident Filidh and Druid.

Well, I don't suppose I consider myself as a "witch". I consider myself a Christian. People sometimes forget the heavy supernatural edicts of Christianity. Heaven, Hell, Divine intervention, personal relationship with the highest of deities ... all these are phenomenal ideas that are overlooked just because the religion is so widespread. There is a huge difference in familiar and unexceptional.

Lovely. I asked on a previous link if its ok to call myself a Christian Witch and got a positive reply. Great to hear there are more people exploring and believing in the esoteric side of Christianity.
I don't need to call myself a witch - my family, friends and enemies call me so already...
And of Cause WITCH stands for Woman In Total Control of Herself...

good question to ask I describe myself as a wiccan. I have been asked if that means in other words if I am a witch... and I say "yes, but not what you think of a witch as..." and others ask me if I am a "tree hugger" and sometimes, yea, I'll be like, sure... I love nature. but wiccan or witch makes no BIG difference to me. I was told that a WICCAN means that you follow the craft and the rede...and that a WITCH was someone that just works with spells and potions and dosnt follow the code. but either way... it dosnt matter to me.

Why do you suppose they say every Wiccan is a Witch, but not every Witch is a Wiccan? Seems like it should work both ways doesn't it? Though on the other hand Witchcraft is a name for sorcery which is the practice of magic...Do you think this means "Witches" have no particular religion?...I wonder...
