The Blessing Moon Guest Author - Fiona Blackwolf The heat of the summer is traditionally a time of relaxation. In agricultural areas, the crops have been planted and this is the period of waiting and tending until they are ready for harvest. For the farmers I have known (in the Midwest United States), July is the time when they are able to take a little time to have fun with their families. The energy of the Blessing Moon, also called the Hay Moon, Wort Moon, and Thunder Moon, is a relaxed energy. It has a watery, emotional feel, which can be welcome in the heat of summer. This moon is a time of meditation and planning for spiritual goals. It is also a good time for divination and dream work. When you are planning your esbat rites this month, consider researching stones such as pearls and moonstones, which hold this watery moon energy, and herbs like orris root, mugwort, and jasmine. Incorporate these items into your ritual or just carry them with you to learn more about them. Consider divinatory reading with runes, tarot, or any method you prefer for your moon rituals this month. Or, if you want to try doing some dream work, create a dream pillow or sachet using herbs that relax you and promote divination and dreaming. Don’t forget, celebrate your path with mirth and reverence, and take time for yourself this month. Relax and enjoy the Summer!
