There is a plethora of choices for us today in the matter of what to do with our bodies after our passing, ranging from burial, cremation, and even mummification today if you would like. I was curious as to what some of us here, who have put any thought into it as of yet, have decided they would like done when that time does eventually come. I myself plan to have one of two things done, though thankfully I should still have a few more years to decide exactly which I would prefer. The first option is that I might very well construct a traditional burial mound as my forefathers did in ages past, building it upon a large section of property that will be handed down to me in a number of years (land which I also intend to turn into a Sacred Grove), and be interred within in my full armor, my black mace, and my sword. The other option is to have built a wooden ship and place it upon the large pond that is on that same property. I will then have my body placed upon that ship, once more in my armor with my weapons, and have the ship and my body set aflame until both are naught but ash upon the waves.

Wow, I was just having this conversation with someone else! I am unsure what I want. My first thought is cremation and my ashes scattered somewhere significant (better than taking up land in this shrinking world). But, tradition would say a grave of some sort, like my ancestors. Don't know yet...
I do know I'd like bagpipes playing traditional Scottish music and a particular song by Mary Fahl ('Coming Home') as it means as much to me in my daily life as it does a passage to the Otherworld.

Hopefully my family will do as I ask and Cremate me. I'm torn because I believe the spirit stays around after death for a couple of days. I think seeing yourself Cremated might be unsettling. I would like my Urn placed in a Memorial Niche. I think family likes to have a place to go to visit the transitioned. It won't matter to me, they could use my ashes to feed the roses! >^-.-^<

Oh I dont thin the cremation would bother you overly much, both because at that point a healthy spirit has allowed itself to let go of its attachment to its previous body, and also because cremations are not really as dramatic as they are cracked up to be by those who have never been around the machines before.

honestly, i want to be an organ donor. purely because i know what its like to have a family member on a list for many a year waiting for a donor. there simply arent enough around. then i'll be cremated...

Oh, I agree completely with this! I couldn't give blood when dx'd with MS and organ donation is limited with the disease, but I am a huge supporter of organ donation. In fact, I think it should be a given and you have to opt out, rather than opting in.

I want to be buried in a standing up position.
