I doubt those who practice Chaos magick would consider what they do 'faking it'. There are other threads in this board that might clarify this a bit... as I am not the one to explain it much further.
As for your second question, I can tell you that the SacredTexts website classifies them both under the heading 'Esoteric and Occult'. Given what little I know of Discordia, she does seem to love chaos, though... Did you look at those threads under Hellenism?

So, then Choas magic is sort of like fake it until you gain the power of the belief you're looking for? Is this tied in to the Principia Discordia? I wouldn't call it "faking it". I'd call it "thinking that all beliefs are fundamentally equal in terms of achieving a result; so long as they observe the aspects of Statement of Intent, gnosis, etc" Thus, many (if not all) Chaotes think that it doesn't matter if you believe if it works or not, just as long as it observes the aspects which are inherent in basically, all traditions--which Chaos Magic sums up in their own terminology (SOI, magical link, gnosis, etc.) I haven't seen anyone call Chaos Magic a means to gaining some power of belief. Mostly, I've seen people call it a metaparadigm, one which states that all are useful. However, it is not really "tied" to the Principia Discordia or Discordianism in general...they are more of "lovers" or "co-existers", they kind of feed each other, in a sense of the phrase.

i met a practitioner of chaos magick and she was so out there. she would agree with this and slam your thoughts on any subject. i personally thought she might be suited for discordianism.....

It's Kaos = ancient Greek for possibilities, not disorder It's basically Paradigm shifting. Nothing is true, all is permitted.
You can use any magickal paradigm you need for any task and then you discard it when you're done, moving on to the next.

Using belief as a tool is only a part of chaos magick. What we chaotes focus primarily on is the use of Gnosis. Gnosis is a state in which the chaote experiences intense bliss and ecstasy. Once we develop gnosis we then funnel it into a sigil. Gnosis + Sigil = Manifestation. Gnosis is the key. The more gnosis you have the more power you have. A lot of individuals that are naturally gifted at practicing magick tend to generate a lot of gnosis naturally. Ive just started a blog you might want to check out: chaosmagicksydney.blog.com/2011/12/20/chaos-magick-sydney/Its sparse at the moment but I will be adding instructional articles over time.

To explain "Chaos Magick" as simply as possible... Its safe to say that chaos magick is an esoteric system that is stripped down to the simple process of ritual...
for example if you made up a deity for God to come through, then you raise energy through danceing, singing, chanting, and drug use. then commit the energy of intention...
It is essentially the law of attraction utilized through ritual, but is neither spiritual or religious...
