here are my drums. the big one is probably about 8-10" tall and about 8" across. the medium drum is about 2-3" tall and about that across. the smallest is about 1" tall and across.

I do too. I am going to read something in the National Geographic about how North America was ecologically changed by John Rolfe (the one who married Pocahontas). Apparently, he found a tobacco that was better than what the Europeans were using so he brought some back to England. It was a hit so, they traveled back to America & 'bellied up' & loaded up with tobacco leaves. to balance the weight of the ship, sailors dumped out ballast (stones & soil). According to the Ecologists, this would have earthworms (which are not indigenous to the Americas). This, though not immediate, caused a huge ecological change in North America (it took about 300-400 years to see it). This is really fascinating as you know John Rolfe would probably not have wanted to have done this. I might start up a thread on this later!

I don't think they thought of it that way...lol. But that is a very odd way of looking at it. It actually hurt the ecology of North America. The story is on the May 2007 National Geographic (called Jamestown-The Real Story. It should be a good read.
