I was reading an article on dream interpretation, and dream work, I was shown again why we study what is known and try to memorize as accurately as possible. I was reading on dreaming as I have had a dream of Eochaid, and from him. I have not discussed this dream with anyone...Until now.
In the Dream he asked me, "Who is your teacher Senbecc?" To which I replied my teacher is hidden, hidden deep within. He is a discrete impulse of the original impulse. He is what I can discover through self knowledge, Truth, and the spirit of place. I am all I need for self growth."
Though my journey has been influenced by many people, my quest for Draíocht has been self guided. Fueled by books, texts, discussions, Imbas, luck, chance, philosophy, and science. In short I am a product of my own sum. My teachers are Druids and Druidic traditions, and my study material is everything that exists. My parents are the heaven and earth, and my eyes are the sun and the moon.
One of the primary roles of any Druid or Druidic tradition was to preserve tribal and ancestral histories as well as a teaching of lessons. In this way we connect to the things which have unfolded, are currently unfolding around us, and what is to unfold (hopefully).
A druid requires this triad of knowledge..Why? Not hard, a druid requires this knowledge because we create alternate realities within mind, body, spirit to connect to what is, what was, and what will be. I have heard a Druid's mind compared to a computer simulator actually. Sometimes this skill can come if the form of "Lucid dreaming" as well as astral travel at times. Some more left brained have at times asked questions like "How real are these things?"...Well I suppose one might further ask themselves how real is real? What is reality if not an "onion"?
Filidh and Druids of the past were said to have a unique (well four actually) ability, Cerda Filidh (The feat of the poet) where one can address nine questions at once. Performing such feats are usually determined by one's own connection to memory and knowledge.
We druids strive to ever increase knowledge, and become a part of the tender network of Imbas through which every Druid becomes connected to every other druid. In this way we seek spirit and become connected to deity, and the memories of those who have past before us, and we give them honor in their vast knowledge.
