I guess from what I'm reading & what my understanding of things are this, Gaelic is a broad term in languages encompassing several languages (including a few that are now defunct). Celtic seems to have been adopted as the term for those of Irish blood or peoples wanting to follow the Irish rather than follow the original version. As for Gods, I do believe that they are the same yet go by a different name BUT I think there are more than we think there are. Well, that was my two cents worth....Don't spend it too quickly!
I think that the gods as we know them today are indeed the product of a Celtic evolution of sorts. If you read some of John and Caitlin (sp?) mathews work for example they show how Gaelic and Brittish gods evolved from common sources and later spit outward into many distinct forms for the needs of many cultures, however usually when you find one well known god of one culture, you will find a idenical god or goddess in the others. The Gaelic language and the Brythonic language are two that probably have some common history, other than both being "Celtic" forms of speech.

I agree with you, John. The Gods & Godesses pantheons are similar from one mythoi to another. This is how I arrived at my conclusion. Yet, I still feel that the pantheons are broader than we know. If you follow Native American mythoi, you see many of the same & many different pantheons that do follow the culture. Here's a weird thing, I think the pantheons shape the culture rather than the other way around....

Often times these gods took the form of being the Guardian of the tribe, or the exclusive spirit of place. I think the Pantheon shaped the people as much as the people shaped the pantheon.

They are still finding some things but I don't think we'll ever get all or most of it....

The important part of this however is making sure we keep separate what is ancient knowledge, and new knowledge.

I'll have to work on that one. I'm not too sure which is which yet. I signed up with N.O.D. a little while ago. I enrolled in the Bardic course. I got a mentor. I'm going to learn from there....
