I've noticed while reading up on the Ogham that several female names are Ogham. For instance, Hazel...Heather, Holly, (even Apple...thanks Gwyneth! lol), Willow, etc....Would you say the correlation of the Ogham to these names are substantial?

At first glance I would probably have to answer your question by saying no. These are simply the names of the trees in English. If there is in fact any correlation I have never been made aware of it.

The correlation? I really don't think that there is any, aside from the fact that many names were taken from things of beauty and power early on... Look at the many people who took the last names of Animals, Clans, Tribes and Families would have a specific totem, and to have more of a connection as well as to honor that animal, the name would be taken.. I think that it would be the same with the names that have been taken from plants, flowers and trees... You are harnessing or tapping into power and beauty when doing that... Look at all the other things that have been used as a basis for naming... Hell, My First Name means Christ-like... I am anything but.. Lol, but when the name originated, it was given by parents who hoped that their child would take on those qualities and abilities... Now, often times.... we name because we like it, or we think that it's pretty.. That wasn't the intent in naming back then... lol.. ok, I are done, did I make sense?

Maybe correlation wasn't a good word. As many other names do come up in naming females anyway. Names of months, flowers, & other things beautiful would be something to name a female. I forgot that the names were in English.....Still, in names, they did name for a reason as Lala put it. My first name means 'beloved' & it comes from the Hebrews. I even have a star name after me!! lol (that's what I used to say when I was 6 yrs old & I saw my Jewish friend's Star of David pendant) But I was also thinking that names do have a certain 'power' (for a lack of a better word) for people. When named, you seem to fit your given name. This is not ALWAYS true but for the most part, I've noticed that someone named, let's say, William acts like a William. So, I guess that's more of the question rather than using correlation?

Ok, while I was re-reading a some posts here & speaking with my sister (a Jehovah's Witness), I started to think that while you name means Chist-like, you would embody some of those aspects. For instance, you a someone who is religious & tries to help those as best as you can. You also believe in helping Earth & the beings that live on it. So, in a way, you did take on those qualities. So you were aptly named! You know, I don't know you real name Lala but judging from Christ-like, I'd assume Christine, Kristen, Christian....Is this close?

lol.... The Second one. and Nice job on the spelling... I however do answer to any form of Kris... lol Thanks! I usually follow the regular rules most have for naming children. Kristen is usually spelled this way unless the mom & dad had decided to go weird on the spelling. I do believe that in naming a child is much like gaining a magical name. We seem to embody & ambrace the name without ever realizing it.
