I got bullied a bit in school. There was name-calling, pushing, throwing stuff, etc. It kind of escalated to the point I couldn't take it anymore. I had pushed everything I felt deep inside for so long that I snapped. A guy that used such phrases as "f***stick" put his finger in my chest and called me "boy". Well, at that moment, all the thoughts I've had for the past few years collided. I decided to finally do something. So I broke the guy's finger. Sure, it may have been wrong, but it worked. I got in trouble of course, as I know I should have. My main conclusion was that there was no way I could escape being hurt in some way, so I might as well inflict what I could while I was taking a beating. He did try to hit me once, but it must've hurt his broken finger when it met my arm when I used it to block.
Anyway, that's how I handled my problem. I wouldn't necessarily suggest it, but it worked in that instance. Certain factors influenced my punishment to the point that I got a small suspension, but that was it. Just know that there are many people that have been in similar situations. We're all here for you. Anything you fear to say to anyone else, you can say to us.

Have any of you ever been in love? I was in love once; this was before the incident I mentioned in an earlier post. I remember how it felt to love. I knew it was love when I realized that nothing could change it or take it away. No matter what happened, my love was still there; I could still smile and feel a warmth inside ... which is a lot for me to admit. People could call me terrible things, but whenever I gained focus of my love, nothing else existed.
Maybe that's the trick with this world. It's been said so many times in so many ways that it's lost something, but I think love might really be the key. "All you need is love." "Love your enemies." "Kill them with kindness." There has to be a reason that all these expressions exist, doesn't there? Maybe if you're able to hold something so beautiful that it dampens out all else, people will wonder, not fear, how you're different.
It's late at night, almost morning, and I can't really articulate my meaning. I just know that when I was filled with love, nothing could damage my world. But when I was empty, the weight of life felt like it was crushing me. That's a little off-topic for bullies, but it's the idle musings of a wandering mind.

But what if you can't keep your enemies closer?
Pel, I think we all understood what you wrote.. I don't have a way with words like you do.. lol but yes, i've been in love.. It makes you feel on top of the world not way below.. you can handle things like bullying and other things more easily..

and not like in a hippie-lets-love-everything-lalala way, in that if those bullies had love for someting or someone, they probably would not be as harsh as they are to you, zoe.

Do you have any teacher that has taken your under their wing? I was the person everyone hated because I never really spoke. I know where you are coming from but there is something wrong with the not telling someone. Someone needs to finally stop this! If you don't say anything, they might get worse. I'd tell someone who can do something about it. It matters not what race, creed, sex, etc....anything. That is prejudice at it's worst.

While Ive never been bullied before, I have admittedly been in a fight or two during my day. And I agree, that sometimes kids need to just have a good brawl and get it out of their systems. Ive won those fights, Lol, and like a true Irishman after each one Ive helped the other man up and shared a drink (even if it was just a can of pop) and a laugh with him about how thick headed we can be at times or bragging back and forth about the fight itself (i.e. I got you a good one with that punch didnt I?- Yeah, but you should have seen your face when I head-butted you, haha). Im just not an angry person and I dont hold grudges, so normally after a fight the person and I have got along much better because if you do it right, when you walk away youve earned their respect or theyve earned yours. But I agree that bullying is becoming a terrible problem in schools anymore, thats why my wife and I plan to home school and just try to avoid that situation.
