I am sure there is someone versed in Runes. I have a sketchy knowledge of them. I don't use them. I have always cast stones. I have a set of 15 river stones I have collected over the years...varying in shades of blacks, grays, browns, tans and white. I read them by the way they fall and group.

I think HeathenHammer wanted to get into this some...Why don't you guys try looking some stuff up in the mean time and see what you can put together on your own?

A great place to get started is Lisa Peschel's "A Practical Guide to The Runes: Their uses in Divination and Magick." I got a copy at a used book store for $3 American and used it daily for months until I memorized all the names and all the meanings of the runes.

Welcome again and again to PaganMystics Temptation! I look forward to having your thoughts added to these subjects on the Runes. I'll look tonight to see if I can find the information you were looking for.

I've been casting runes for a few years.. a really good book to check out for beginners is The Book of Runes by Ralph H. Blum. Its small, easy to carry with you, follow, and has the traditional meanings listed just inside the cover, complete with both the 'new' translation in the front, and traditional Futhark symbols and meanings on the back cover. It also has the most frequent casting methods and examples of readings, and how to interpret what the symbols might mean to you. The main thing with Runes, as with any oracle, is that it is subjectively personal, and one needs to find their own way with interpretation, within the given limitations of the symbolism.
