Merry meet Pagan Mystics! Normally I'd check things out a little better before signing up. But since I'm here on invitation from the Priestess of Random, Queen of the Banned, I'll just wade into the water and see how it feels and leave my clothes on the bank!
I'm an eccentric eclectic pagan philanthropist. I'm basically a Celtic Soul, but I've been other things in other lifetimes, too. Some of it's coming back. I'm hopelessly eclectic. Uranus is on my Ascendent and Oliver says I'm the 5 of Clubs, the most restless card in the deck. In my years I've learned more about commitment and have strived to deepen my knowledge intellectually in a least of couple of subjects. I'm interested in Celtic, Odinism, Greek, Native American, but I've also, to one extent or the other looked into Theosophy, Hinduism, Buddhism (I like to meditate with a local group from time to time and have done a 10-day Vipassana Meditation Retreat). Years ago I took some basic Psychic Training classes with Joy Metcalf. I've had both 15 years training with a male mentor, Victor, the magick uncle I always wished for in general magick and awareness, and a female mentor, Crone Priceless, with whom I had 7 years training in Wicca and integrating practices as well as the last, most stubborn trust, boundary and self-discipline issues, and without whom I'd probably be dead. I work mainly with Odin and Aphrodite but other deities of mixed pantheons as well. I work also with a number of guides, elementals or entities, and altogether I call them "the Team." My primary guide and familiar is Raven, and also Owl and Coyote are close totems. Others have come at various times including Cockroach, who teaches survival and adaptability to the environment. So, although I give myself credit for leaving organized Christianity and going on a relentless search for my own identity and the truth, I owe a dept of gratitude for all those who invested energy in me along the way.
Among favorite authors I should mention Carlos Casteneda, Leo Buscagia, Barbara Marciniak, Barbara Hand Clow, Maria Yraceburu, Rudolf Steiner, Helena Blavatsky, C. G. Jung, Don Miguel Ruiz, Richard Bach, Edward Fitch, Scott Cunningham, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Heinlein and Richard Pirsig
I'm on a mental disability and no longer have children, business or property much to care for, so I pretty much practice mundane everyday magick all the time. I also work with a number of solitary practitioners online with whom we've accomplished some interesting things. I owe a lot to my online friends at PaganPath and MySpace. I do a little mentoring work both local and long distance. I participate in The Circle of Men, a local men's movement thing to which I've devoted a lot more energy this year, as well as celebrating the corners of the year and a monthly drum circle with a new group of local pagans as yet unnamed. And I'm feeling out the interest in a local shaman/healers' support group. It only takes one or two others who are called and willing to step into it.
I'm not certain at the moment how often I can be here, but it will be more or less regular, I just have to find my rhythm with my priorities. Thanks for the invite, and blessings be!
