Firstly, I would like to thank Wren again for this beautifully crafted set of Ogham fews. They are made from oak, still with the bark on each few. In the middle of each is carved a flattened recess where the Ogham is burned gently into the wood, and each is varnished to a glossy shine, bark and all to create a very personalized effect, they are in a deeply purple velvet bag which still gives of the gentle scent of the incense used to charge the bag, as Lugh has charged the wood it's self. To the crafts woman, I say well done, and thank you Wren.
Now, on to today's Ogham. I have drawn "Muin" or the vine. Inverted...Of course. According to the Auraicept na N-Éces (scholar's primer) Vine is the strongest of effort, my drawing is inverted, which means I haven't been giving enough in the way of effort to my endeavors, and my studies. Inverted Vine also warns against indulgence, this can take a myriad of angles in my life right now. Indulgence of emotion, of alcohol, and of laziness. Vine warns me to stay away from such things, and to find my medium.
Any look at the scholar's primer and it becomes obvious that Vine is an Ogham which attributes it's self to strength, "Vine is the strongest of effort, back of man or ox, for it is they who are the strongest" The inversion of the ogham in-and-of it's self is significant, showing that I have been lacking in strength, how ever is something I have recognized and am working to rectify. It shows that I have the ability to be strong again, if I take the proper measures and remain close to the right people.
Vine, as it was drawn upside down is a warning from the sacred trees, that should I dwell, I will be destroyed by my own weaknesses, and it is a blessing from the gods that I have the power to change things in my own time and in my own way.
