I thought, with the film's release coming up so soon, this might be an interesting discussion. The book is a WORK OF FICTION, so why are so many so scared? And does it seem that some who profess deep profound faith are the ones most upset by this work of fiction? Could it be a LACK of faith that is so frightening? Thank goodness not all Christians are in an uproar about this book/film, but the ones that are seem to me to be the ones who only listen to their priest, pastor, etc. and don't think for themselves. Anyone?

Anyone? Heres something I found. CBN.com –The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown has captivated millions of adults worldwide. One of its controversial ideas is that Christianity is founded on a fraud hidden by the church from the beginning. But the worldview contained in Brown's book is part of a much wider impact. In the United Kingdom, Jedi is an official religion as listed by the government. Those are followers of the mysticism from the Star Wars film series. In Revenge of the Sith the following exchange takes place: Anakin: The Jedi use their power for good... Emperor Palpatine: God is a point of view, Anakin. see the rest here...I'm drunk.... www.cbn.com/cbnnews/usnews/060512a.asp

Hollywood is becoming so politically correct these days and it annoys me. Its just a movie! Just like Jurrasic Park, Star Wars, Madagascar, Poo's Heffalump Movie and all that. If it was a documentary then it would be factual and all that but it is a movie. Plain and simple. Here for our enjoyment. Blah

Well over here theres lots of reviews going round saying that its not very good and that people laughed in some of the key scenes because of bad acting. Im still going to see it but it sounds like a let down.

OK, Sojrn and I saw it and .... IGNORE THE CRITICS! I think most of them must have recieved payoffs because the film was FANTASTIC! All the acting was superb (Silas is as chilling as an iceburg, Tom Hanks was his usual wonderful self, Sir Ian couldn't give a bad performance if he tried, Molina had just the right amount of pomp and snobbery), the screenwriter managed to catch the book and condense it into 2 1/2 hours without loosing anything from the book, and Ron Howard directed it just right! It was fast-paced, exciting, and had just enough light humor to bring relief. It did not drag, it was not boring, and it was enjoyed very much by everyone in the theater with us ... by both those who had read the book and those that hadn't. So, go see it yourselves!

He managed to make the character 3 dimensional in spite of the fact that his background story was only touched on (part of what had to be left behind in translation, I guess). Everyone's performances were wonderful, in fact! Sir Ian stole every scene he was in and if Molino's nose had gotten any higher he would have drowned in the rain (ooooh, he played a pompous Bishop!). Sojrn and I are going to go see it again (something we rarely do).
