This is a topic im not very sure on. There doesent seem to be anyone around today who can do anything like that. Although there are accounts of shamans and such taking the shape of birds or dogs. I always read that humans only use a fraction of their full potential physically and mentally. Perhaps if these hidden potentials and powers where unlocked there may be some shapeshifting capabilities hidden within us. Or perhaps if they are around they're not so quick to advertize such a skill. Theres undoubtedly a great deal of examples through out the old texts, and if one really thinks about words like Feth Fiada they're not really saying that you "turn into" anything persay.

If I can have experiences during my meditation... where I feel free of my useless legs, for example, and am standing tall and strong like a tree, rather than in a wheelchair... this does not seem so very far-fetched at all. We dream such things all the time... why not when we're awake and simply open and aware?

On this matter, I am going to have to take a nice, comfy seat for myself right on the fence, Lol. You see, I have never met a person who made these claims, and Ive never had one explain their beliefs to me, so I feel it would be as wrong of me to judge them as I feel it would be wrong for, say, a Christian who knows nothing about Druidism to judge me and how I live my life. I do not like to make decisions, especially when it concerns others and their beliefs, until I have all the information available and I can make an educated decision. So until I get a chance to speak to one of them, who knows? Though I will say one thing, I know the Navajo still take skinwalkers very seriously. I even spoke to an professor once who was escorted off a reservation for asking about them.

I dont know the truth of this issue to be honest but I think all legends have some basis in fact or they wouldn't last long enough to become legends and like Sen said earlier if they have the skills , in the world we live in, they wouldnt advertise the fact.
