Not a problem, so then you feel that eastern philosophy is a pretty big part of Wicca as we know it today? I honestly believe there might have been a root religion that ties us all in together in some way. In babylonian diggings they have found tablets that talk about the earth being created in one day.. in Hindu there are passages in their bible that are the same as the Christian ones. adn the list goes on.. I can't prove it but its a deep personal feeling that I have. Plus you have Wiccans who worship assorted pantheons seperately and all at once. I have often felt that religion and spirituality must come from some common root. There are simply to many similarities with cultures, and beliefs to deny such things. I have also wondered if "Adam" and "Eve" (And Lilith?) may perhaps have been symbolic of races of people since it would infact be impossible to populate the Earth with two/three people as inbreeding would make for a weaker people all the way around.

One can practice Witchcraft and be a Christian, a Bhuddist, an Athiest. I could also be a little picky here and talk about 5 elements vs. 4, he left out spirit, but then again, some people don't recognize that spirit is an element. This may be the case of differing opinions and studies. anyway....nice thread, really makes one think! Jen Well, I've heard that the 5th element was a younger idea, that was discovered later on, though I won't speculate any further on that. Your statement reminds me of another one made by a UK Druid. Have you seen this quote? "Druidry is not a religion. It's a philosophy and you can worship a God or a Goddess, it's up to you. You can be a Christian or a Moslem or anything else and still be a Druid. But while a Christian will say God made that tree, a Druid will say the energy of a creative force is in that tree." -Kieron, a North-East UK Druid. One of the oldest power symbols - the pentagon - have five points for the five elements I am an Christian and would say the energy of a creative force is in that tree, the Creative Forse being God who is the spiritual Father and Creator of all combined with the Mother who is the Material Mother and Creator of all on Earth. Just as the essence of a man is needed to start life in a woman, the essense/spirit of the Father is needed to sustain life in the Mother. About Wicca and Witches - To say you are a witch is like saying you are a priest or doctor manager. Witch/priest/doctor/manager of what?? Wiccan witch, satan witch, witch doctor ( as in Africa) - it says nothing about the religion or path. Catholic Priest, Voodoo Priest, etc Foot doctor, mouth Doctor, doctor of some university degree... If the religion is not specified, the title can be misleading.

Now I'm probably going to have it, whenever I've mentioned the following possibility to anyone - christian or pagan - people wants to crusify me... Maybe this should start on another thread?? Please forgive me for posting on this thread Senbec, but it just follows so nicely... God created all and every soul lived in His heavenly/spiritual home. But as all comes from the All Creator - He created every soul with free will and his/her own creative powers. Now His big favourite - Lucifer - decided he can create on his own as he wants to - no need to just do as the old man wants. And a third of the souls in heaven felt the same way. So rebelion and revolution and the next thing they found themselves chucked out of heaven and down on earth. That being us guys!!! We are the souls who felt we can do our own thing. Now we have to find our way back to the good times. A long time ago a lot of us already decided Lucifers way led us wrong and then we started coming together and forming all kinds of ideas on how to get back. All religions and all strive within ourselves is about how to higher ourselves. How to be good and go better. How to loose the material and own will/Ego and become part of the greater good. Now how about that??

There are lots of different definitions for Witchcraft and of course the differ from dictionary to thesaurus to encyclopedia. To break it down to the simplest terms, Witchcraft, as I understand it, is the practice of manipulation. Of energy, of elements, of events or people. It has ritual and rites but it's not dependent on a particular Deity. You believe, you can MAKE it be. You can perform witchcraft if you don't HAVE a Deity. Joan of Arc, Nostradamus, Tituba, Alastair Crowley (sp), the Salem witches, John Edward have/had practiced various forms of witchcraft (according to the various rumors). Harry Potter is Witchcraft, The Charmed Ones are Witchcraft. Doctor/Priest...good analogies. Wiccan Witch, Satanic Witch, Catholic Priest (oops Freudian slip! I mean Witch! ) or from the middle ages, alchemist. I am Wiccan, but I don't really practice much Witchcraft. Oh, I read tarot, and I use a pendulum to help me find things, but I don't do spells or incantations. I believe in Mother Goddess and Father God and I worship them "in secret." I believe in the 5 (count 'em! ;D) elements and I celebrate "when the moon is full....." and I believe in "'an harm none". done, for now ;D

Now how about that?? Definately has some merit. I don't know why we are here, "chucked from heaven" or "learning our lessons", but "becoming part of the greater good" is always what (I feel) we should aim for. Regardless of what we call ourselves or what path we follow. All ideas are welcome here!
