Overview of Stregheria These days, you can't swing a dead cat without smacking into someone who claims to be a Witch, or at least a Pagan. They'll busy themselves telling you all sorts of stories of rituals at midnight, or this 'authentic' Book of Shadows they obtained from Barns and Noble. These people are confused. Most people who follow a Pagan path, follow one whose roots are based in Celtic or British legends. The Celts have a very rich tradition, and their religion spread all through northern and western Europe. Druidism and Wicca as it is commonly known to have their roots in this tradition. But when one uses the term "Wicca", it should not be used to apply to all of Pagan-kind. For while, for the most part, all Wiccans are Witches, not all Witches are Wiccan. Stregheria is a good example. Stregheria, or La Vecchia Religione, the Old Religion, is Italian Witchcraft. The Tradition as it is known today, began in the mid-14th Century with the teachings of Aradia, the Holy Strega. This was based upon a much earlier system of beliefs, dating back to the pre-Etruscian Italians. It is now, as it was then, a worship of the Source of All Things, through the personification of the Goddess and God. There are many things that are similar between Stregheria and Wicca. Both use Nature in their teachings, though in Stregheria, Nature is the Great Teacher. The rituals are more structured and require more concentration and "digging" than Wicca. There is a deep history based upon Aradia's Teachings, and there is a prophecy given to us in the Mythos, which speaks of the coming Age of Daughter, when Reason will rule. The Stregan view of the Afterlife is different as well. We return to the Realm of Luna as the moon waxes, and return to Earth as She wanes. When we are ready, we pass through the Sun to be made into our new bodies for our return to the Stars. We have the Grigori, who are the Watchers, and Guardians over our rites. And the Grimas, who keep the traditions pure and continuing. The Lare are the spirits of our ancestors, whom we worship and call upon for aid. Family and tradition play a major role in the lives of the Strega, and this is what gives this Tradition its strength and lasting power. www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/7159/whatis.html

I just wanted to thank you for telling me about this. I have to read more into it and get more information. It's appealing though. ^.^ Oh and why a dead cat? Maybe in hopes that people have some respect for the living, if not the dead? Heh. Or maybe dead cats swing better then live ones? ? What a horrid thought. O.o

Now see, there ya go again. Unlike you, I am engaged to a Strega. *smirks* We can certainly go rounds about this, but unlike you I hold proof in my arms each night. Along with their rules, practices, and laws.

LoL, I am not overly concerned with who you may or may not be engaged to, but if you are going to challenge a post on this board and mean to be taken as anything more than a blow hard, then you owe me some sources...Don't ya?

Along with their rules, practices, and laws. So are you a stregha as well. You would have to be to be so familiar with all the rules and traditions. My impression of the tradition is that you can find those that will teach you in the way that Raven Grimasi did. He is not from a family of the faith but was able to find a woman to teach him the traditions that he then incorporated into the wiccan ideals. You are also aware I am sure that your finance is not a direct line stregha seeing as they do not exist anymore, They are reemerging but the old old ways are lost. What part of Italy is she from as well? It may help if you provide some source of fact instead of coming in and starting trouble right off the bat. I also understand you had a few problems with the Roma board If you need any clarification I will try to answer any of your questions seeing as that is my baby. Welcome and enjoy your stay. Rowan.

OK lets take a big step back... Drama will not grow here. I simply will not allow that. General Knowledge of subjects is accepted, but we do wish to have references of some sort. So please keep that in mind, or we will have to ask you to leave this site. (Otherwise we will have to take the matter out of your hands and you will be banned.) Thanks, Kitty

I have a feeling, Rowanashmore, would appreciate this ( I hope so ), yet also, for those highly respectful, as she seems to be a fine soul, from what I have seen...She is the High Priestess, of a Stregha Coven/Group, in the Bay Area; Babianna Mince : Website:womenfullmooncircle @yahoogroups.com .... If she asks, tell her she spoke with me at Pantheacon...And Rowanashmore, I would love to speak with you, when you are ready...THANK YOU, Kitty, for slamming your paw down...Discourse, not just coarse... Thanks to both you and Rowan, Blackwolf (Grins) for working to keep this thread and the board moving in a positive scholarly direction. I certainly have all the respect in the world for thoughts, general knowledge, and opinion until it challenges a post on this board. Then I expect to see sources, as the one who can be the most disrespectful to posters isn't necessarily the one who is right, that is how flame wars start. If you provide facts and sources to prove that fact and they become disrespectful anyway, then they are willfully ignorant (which I have NO respect for) as well that person becomes the problem of the staff. I would again like to thank you and Rowan for how you both handled yourselves on this thread. Further Blackwolf, I will certainly look into your site as well, one of the first serious studies I conducted as a Druid was that of the Stregha, Stregheria, La Vecchia Religione, and the Vangalo della Stregha. I found the religion to be a fascinating practice and study. One of my first contacts to the Practice was a song called "Enchantress" by a singer called Gypsy. The words to that song are somewhere in the poetry boards. I'm tempted to find them and re post them in this board. It is extremely educational music.

Back to the topic, at paw...er, excuse me, at hand... I have shown certain things about the Runes, to Stregha... they found it very interesting...
1. In Olde Tongue, three Runes: Sdar-Rrea-G'yar ...(Stregha )...equal 312;
312=New Moon ( Obri ) 312=It will be Goddess Retual ( Obri-Runic ) 313=Moon between Pillars ( Obri-Runic ) 312=Goddess Pillars ( Obri-Runic ) 311=It will be a Wietch ( Obri -Runic ) ( Note, that Goddess Retual=Wietch ) 312=Let there be a Wietch's Gathering ( Obri-Runic ) 312=It will be * Weyyrding Wey / Moon / Psychic * chanting (Obri-Runic ) 312=Circle Danse, over, and over ( Obri-Runic )
Enough, on that, for now, but I could continue...Next...
Our " Mother's Column / Pillar " of Runes, equals 603... So many meanings for that!!!
For right now, what is important, is Dea-Na, two Rune pronunciations, equal 604;
604=Sdarrreag'yar Artz ( Obri-Runic )
604=Faerie Queen ( Runic )
604=Aerr-Rrea-Dea ( Runic Pronunciations )
As Aerr, and Rrea, are the same Rune, yet one up, one down, when they are "fit together" , they make the shape of the Double Axe...When we add the Dea Rune shape, it is the rope, which bonds the Axe head, to the handle...The Labrys...
Thus, the name, in Runic, Aerrrreadea ( Aradia ) , makes the shape of her symbol, the Double Axe... And, Aeerrreadea/Deana , are the same number value 604...And, when we add what we call the "boundary Runes", to the two Pillars of eight Runes each,we attain the value 1318;
What is most interesting: 1318=Thirteen, the same ( Obri ) 1319=Aerrrreadea, is the coming Daughter ( Obri-Runic ) 1318=It will be a Wietches Of Aerrrreadea Retual ( Obri-Runic ) 1318=To learn the Waxing,and Waning Moon route 1318=Waxing, and Waning Moon + Faery / Wife / Fire / Dragon
And 1788, another of our number values, for a very, particular arrangement of Runes:
1788=Sdarrreag'yar Artz:The Olde Wietches Of Deana/Aerrrreadea...
Enough, for now...Reaction, anyone ?
( O, a short P.S. )
Faery ( =327 )( General Name )
Fayaerri ( =387 )( Upper World )
Fairy ( =294 )( Middle World )
Faerie ( =368 )( Underworld )

All right, I am about to expose my lack of knowledge on this subject: what do the numbers mean? How is using the numbers relevant?

Kitty, you asked about the Numbers, I was referring to, and called it your admitted ignorance of the Tradition...Actually, that was a most appropriate, and astute question, and I thank you, for the opportunity, to explain;I was wondering, when someone, would ask, on one of my posts...
In the Spiritual Science of the Kcebealla-Qabalah, which is said to be a "model" , for the Universe, yet, is actually, more than that, letters, have many correspondences, including, and most especially, number correlations; the understanding, and use of this number-letter relationship, is known, as gematria ; There are actually, many languages, around the world, with number-letter systems, and through their study, you begin to see the underlying pattern of "thing to thing" correlation. There are many divisions, within this Science, and I shall cover some of them here...It might be wise, for all, to bookmark this post...
Let us begin, with the simplest: if two words, have the same value, there is some relation, between them ; they coud be similar, opposite, or the relation may be hidden, until, down the line, of your research, you "happen" upon the relation, by associations with smaller numbers, which add up to that number. ( Once I get the Rune sheets up though, you will see other possible ways, of finding those relations ) ;Everything you know, as experience, in this realm, could, in one sense, come down to Pattern, and Feeling...A sustained magnetic field; And every "Thing" , may be expressed mathematically, whether it be a geometric shape, bird's song, a waterfall, the algorythmic functions of the biorythms of the body, or a multiple orgasm... The Science of the Kcebealla-Qabalah, is the Code, as in computer speech, the program, everything is writ in...The Web Of Weyyrd;
Now, there is also, the variation, of permutation, within a word, or phrase...If each letter, has many relations, and levels of meaning, depending on context, within a particular usage, and you rearranged the order, what would happen ? Would not the entire reality, change ?
There is another variation, dealing with the number values, and meanings, of abbreviated words...Think of many of the abbreviations, used in cyberland today...
There are other variants, and these may all seem abstract, and mental masturbation, until you actually experience the reality, of it... Similar to the difference, between reading about Mgieckal Retual, or doing it...For an extended period of time;
When we introduce the "Hidden Kcebealla" to unite with the Qabalah, we attain number boundaries, you normally do not have, within the Obri/Hebrit system, unless, you happen to be, or be taught by, a very advanced teacher...This is what we are dealing with here... Certain configurations of symbols, which have number values, smaller number values, representing words, or phrases, are added up within...
It is only by study and persistence, one sees the web, and knows, the inter-relations, and the response-ability, which arrives in due course, with that...A most necessary part of the Craft, as the rational counterpoint, to the intuitive side...And is not the Stregha prophecy, about the coming daughter, and the rational ?
By the way, the Women taught this, as part of the Mysteries, long ago, to Plato, Pythagoras, and others...
Did that help you, and anyone else ?
