I WAS JUST WOUNDERING HOW MANY OF YOU ACTUALLY USE THE WORD WITCH TO DISCRIBED YOURSELF? I GO TO A WITCH COLLEGE AND WE WERE DISCUSSING THIS BETWEEN US, I DO CALL MYSELF A WITCH BECAUSE I AM, BUT SOME DON'T CALL THEIR SELF ANY THING AN ONE CALLS HER SELF A WISE WOMAN! wHAT DO YOU CALL YOURSELF AND WHY? To me it seems important to an extent to have a title of some kind especially in the beginning. I think it's said by nearly every religion that in the beginning times there was absolutely nothing, the darkness could not be seen for the darkness. Existence was an egg which became self aware within the endless depths, what scientists might call the big bang I'd suppose. With that single action some of the basics of our cosmos such as distance, direction, and time burst into being, as to have any one of these concepts one need a point of origin. I think we each mimic this creation in our spiritual growth, just as a freshly conceived baby will mimic all the elements of physical creation..i.e. Single cell, fish, amphibian, etc. What is a title such as Witch, Wiccan, Druid, Shaman, etc if not a point of origin within our own egg of existence? From these "labels" we blossom out and can begin to grow. Senbecc

I call myself a witch when I am with other pagans because most of what I do is witchcraft with Shamanism added. When I am not with pagans I will use either Wicca or AmerInd Shamanism simply because those are terms better understood outside the pagan world. And sometimes I refer to myself as "witch with a B" when I am feeling particularly feisty! ;D
I think terminology is a problem for most of us outside the mainstream religions because of the lack of understanding, or maybe I should say misunderstanding. Here in the good old US of A there is still religious intollerance out the yin/yang which makes it very difficult. I think it will take more of us coming out of the broom closet and educating the general public so they understand our terminology as we understand theirs.
There is something that one of the tribal leaders said about being Cherokee that I think lends itself to paganism as well.
There is no such thing as 'part-Cherokee.' Either you're Cherokee or you're not. It isn't the quantity of Cherokee blood in your veins that is important, but the quality of it . . . your pride in it. I have seen full-bloods who have virtually no idea of the great legacy entrusted to their care. Yet, I have seen people with as little as 1/500th blood who inspire the spirits of their ancestors because they make being Cherokee a proud part of a their everyday life." Jim Pell: Principal Chief of the North Alabama Cherokee Tribe
Paganism by any name is the quality of it, the pride of it, and legacy of it. At least IMHO.

Well, I don't suppose I consider myself as a "witch". I consider myself a Christian. People sometimes forget the heavy supernatural edicts of Christianity. Heaven, Hell, Divine intervention, personal relationship with the highest of deities ... all these are phenomenal ideas that are overlooked just because the religion is so widespread. There is a huge difference in familiar and unexceptional.

Most Christians don't consider the supernatural side of Christianity, so your opinion of this is, at least to me, a bit unique and insightful. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your beliefs on the supernatural side.

There is a huge difference in familiar and unexceptional. please explain this a little bit more for the slow minded witch. Well, my wording isn't quite clear. Sometimes it's hard to articulate my thoughts. I meant that just because something is seen everyday, it doesn't mean that it's not amazing.

I look forward to learning something new!
