When I was a Wiccan, I studied the Faery tradition, as a "traditional" witch I studied faery magic, as an Bard and Druid I expand that knowledge of spirit and being through the five tenants of Fionn's wheel.
What about others? What traditions do you follow, and how do you work to further knowledge of the self, and tradition within your own practice or study?

I basically practice my own way. I take other forms of Wicca and form it so it is what is best for me.

I'm glad you found us first, SisterWillow, because if you would have posted your response at another (cough) forum that we all got banned from, you would have been banned as well after a lengthy tirade against you for daring to be creative!

That seems to be the consensus for many of us over here .... incorporate the best of what feels "right" and run with it. I have combined my upbringing (Cherokee) with Wicca and find it very satisfying. My hubby (Sojrn on these here boards) was trained in Ceremonial Magic, so we have an interesting household to say the least.

This is usually what is best for an individual, what speaks to the heart, isn't always the same as what speaks to the spirit, and what speaks to the spirit isn't always what speaks to the mind. I am a traditional Irish Filidh and Druid, as such am taught never to look for the truth of words, but whether or not words come from a place of truth, as it seems you yourself are doing.

So far I have not join any group to study with.
From my first memory I have been different. Questioned everything. Raised as a Christian, but since I got banned from the Youth Church Action in Grade 8 because I knew the Bible better than the Reverant and disrupted his classes with the truths i found there, I started reading and studying everything I could lay my hands on.
Well ya, that is something thats came totaly naturally to me, even before I started looking into other ways - my hands heal - its a fact of life, not something I've learned in this life. They are sensitive to vibrations and "feel" pain and sickness. By using my hands any way from deep tissue massage to stroking to just brushing the energy body, I can and do help people.
And by finding the pain in the body, the sickness in the spirit is revealed. This awareness sometimes cause that I pick up personnel details from a persons energy field, whenever I'm tempted to comment on something I've picked up - the person usualy freaks out and then stay out of my way. So now I keep my mouth shut.
This sensitivity made me aware of the energy and vibrations in minerals and I started studying mineral healing... Minerals are so powerfull...
Of cause, chemical medicines destroy the natural vibrations of our astral/energy bodies and herbs and plants vibrate in correspondence with us, that makes them the NATURAL choice in healing. It is al so elemental. I do not understand why this is strange or different. All people should know this.
So, no I do not belong to any one path, but being a bit of a natural healer, I study everything I can get hold of concerning healing and that leads to the study of the spirit, because I believe that any illness that manifest in the body has been an illness in the soul for a long time. I also believe that for any illness there is a natural "fix".

I also believe that for any illness there is a natural "fix". I didn't mean groups or covens. I simply mean what "tradition" of Wicca or Witchcraft people study. Usually in most forms of Wicca and Witchcraft a culturally specific study is made on pantheons, old folk ways and magic and other such studies. Some examples of traditions would be but certainly not limited to: Gardnerian Alexandrian Faery Celtic Dianic Stregha These are traditional groups which focus on the ways of the ancestors, being ecclectic is certainly a path to be given thought, though I think it's always important to remember and study the root of a given practice so as to always remember it's origins.

The idea is, when you find a tradition, to look into it and see how that particular culture used such things. The Egyptians I think were big energy healers, the Celts were huge on herbs and colors. Look into the many paths and research their practices, the more you know and understand the more respect you will have for them, thus the better you will feel using them. IMO.
