Dia daoibh!
A few days ago, two of the Druids in our grove and myself were working on a work bench for Keith the Christian Druid in our Grove in his garage. As we worked, it came to be told that this 72 year old man, was it the dog house with his 34 year old wife (...Yeah). Keith's wife is a very devout Baptist woman who goes to church every Sunday, and loves televangelists. Now as they both gathered around to drink a Guinness and watch me work, Keith began to tell us about how he was on the couch that night because he had drank some "Magic spring water" his wife had bought from a televangelist on T.V. We had no idea what he meant, so his wife, tried to explain, then showed us the preacher's show and for $19.95 you too could have this "Magic spring water" renewed in the Holy Spirit, which would cure all sorts of aches and pains, and according to Keith's wife..."It worked".
Daphnie suffers from arthritis in her knees from a series of surgeries she had sometime back, and this "Magic spring water" had not only eased that pain, but in her mind had brought her a closeness to spirit which she'd never experienced before that. Yeah...Came with a little booklet talking about the spring, the whole nine yards. Now Keith told us, "I drank that whole damned bottle and didn't feel a thing". Sean, the other guy that was there, flew mad...Did this "preacher" have no morals at all?! Why would he seel this stuff to people who might actually need help, and deny themselves that because of this idiot? Two words poured into my head at that very moment, "spiritual placebo".
I have spoken before on how the mind works in unison with the layers of reality and the truths in being as well as non-being. I have said before that there is only 10% of the human mind that is conscious of the of the tangible world around them, the other 90% is what makes life unfold all around us. A placebo is a type of pill which has absolutely no effect on the body what-so-ever. A doctor will sometimes prescribe these sugar pills to people with an imagined ailment, so that the illness that a person had willed upon themselves would be willed away.
Spiritual and magical aspects exactly the same thing. Just as the mind can make us sick, or heal the body, it can work it's will into outward existence as well. I have heard this called by many names, Karma, three-fold law...Poetic justice, and spell work to name a few of it's aspects. One of the first things a person will learn when entering any magical practice, is that one must believe 110% in the magic they cast, or it will be bound by your own mind, one must know and understand themselves before working their will on the layers of reality. It is the minds creation of reality which works it's will on outward existence as opposed to the energies we put fourth into the world. If for example, one had no perception of any three-fold law, and casts a negative spell, or acts in a negative manner, then there will be no backlash for that person, for it was never perceived, if they do, then they will. It is created from within the psyche, the subconscious mind has punished the self for something it knew was immoral, or something it perceived as such.
Do I personally feel that this magical healing spring was blessed by God?...I suppose one would need to define God to make that conclusion. I feel the the woman created her own healing, and her new reality in spirit. She believed this televangelist with all her heart, and through the power of belief became the change it's self, and through this act of becoming summoned from within herself the power of making as well. No one knows what the human mind holds in store for mankind as our species evolves, and our minds mature...However that might be another topic of conversation all together.
