I am curious to know, do any of you use your pets in your magickal workings?
I have a cat called Ozzy, the stereotypical black cat of a witch, LOL, but have never used him in my workings. He wouldn't be able to sit still more than 30 seconds, Bless him.

I have almost always had cats that act as goundings for me, especially when I astral travel. I guess I call them to me. Merlin, the latest, is now almost 15 years old and has been acting as my ground since he was about 2 years old. I figure the next kitty we add to the family will be one in training to take over from Merlin, since Tribbles is Sojrn's cat thru and thru.

Shadow has to be at the rituals! She goes crazy if I don't let her out. She is a great calming element. She usually lays down and oversees what I do.>^..^<

i used to have a cat named felix that would follow me around whenever she could, lol. when i was in elematry school she would try to follow me onto the bus. she returned to the mother a few years ago. sorry this post brought back memories. we miss her very much! now i have a dog and she gets into EVERYTHING there's no way i could, even if i had the time for a ritual. lol

I think it's interesting that a cat is the only animal that can cross a ritual cirle without disturbing it. Shadow continues her furry escapades. She is the only cat I have that will go into my Altar area. As a matter of fact she revels in the Arbor.>^..^<

In response to the question about cats being the only animal that won't break magickal circles; The Wicca Handbook, Eileen Holland, page 206. Sorry it took so long!>^..^<

My cat sits just on the outside of the circle.. Sometimes he comes in but he mainly just watches.. lol. My snake used to come in too.. He used to curl up in my pocket or slither up the arm of my jumper..

My Altar is in a Grape Arbor. I've noticed that the birds seem to enjoy being there(even if they can't eat grapes LOL). I've noticed a tree frog or two, my husband weed wacked a grass snake . It seems to attract wild things, some books say you can have a sanctuary if you open your yard to spirits. >^..^<
