Hi, John! My mom is Wren and she said that you used to be a Faery witch. Can you tell me what a faery witch is? What do you do different from other witches? How do you work with faeries? Have you ever seen them? I want to know all about them and I hope you'll tell me everything you know because my mom says you know a lot about everything. She said you are really nice and so I hope you wouldn't mind answering my questions.
I have a faery ring we made from flat stones in our garden. We planted liatris around the stones in an arc. And, I have a shell from the beach that I put in the middle. I put my offerings to them in the shell almost every day. One day, I forgot and they locked us in the house! I put hollyhocks floating in our fairy bowl for them and foxglove caps on the fairy figures' heads, who sit around the edge of the bowl.
And, what is your favorite color? She is going to make you a walking staff and I am going to help make you something else but I need to know what color to use.
"The lil Druidess"
Is this not just the sweetest litte girl? I answered:
Dia dhuit! (Hi) "Druidess", it does me well to meet you, your mother is a very close and very special friend to me and it does well to hear from you a well. I hear you and your brother have allot to do with the MS walks, and I know how that warms your mother's heart, as well as my own...With that, let us try to address some of your questions you have asked.
A Faery witch is someone who follows the ways of old Irish tradition and culture, we would study the old texts, and work to know the ever hidden ones (the Faery folk) as the Tuatha de Danann. The Tuatha are the "gods" of Ireland, and are considered by many to be the first ancestors in a way. An Irishman doesn't worship his gods however, but more over respects and loves them as you would your mother, or grandmother, father or grandfather, we work to know and make relationships with them, we are different, but we are equal, we don't separate ourselves from them through worship I suppose is what want to say.
The "Sidhe" (an Irish term used to describe both the Faery mounds, as well as the Faery folk) are many and varied to a witch of the Fae, we considered all the beings of the Summerlands as equally sacred, from Sylphs, mermaids, Gnomes, Sprites, Salamanders, and other elemental entities. These were at times considered to be the descendants of the ever hidden, the hero's of old Irish culture, even though they are a "newer" breed.
Working with the Faery folk can be as easy as working and truly enjoying that garden of yours. The Faery folk do love a pretty garden, thy love to make things grow, and will help those they trust, those who they can see truly love nature, and the beauty within. The decorations you told me about would have been the first step I would have advised, they love gifts, and they love milk especially if it has Honey in it, some prefer beer, some whiskey...But the Fey can get very feisty if they get tipsy
Now have I seen them?...Oh yes, on several occasions. Sometimes the Druids of our Grove will take looong trips into the deep forest, just for the chance to greet them in tey're most natural setting, we leave gifts of quartz, and plant plants and other such things as they can be very skeptical of anything new.
You raise another fine point about the Faery folk...Once they're used to something, they're used to it, like when you were locked out of the house, they're very mischievous creatures at times.
As to my favorite color, it is green...Irish green. I happen to be working something out for you and Wren as well, I call it the "Celtic Witch". It is a drawing I've been working on allot and hope you like it. You have warmed my heart with this special e-mail lass, and have reminded me of why I do what I do, and who I do it for, and for that I can never thank you enough. Feel free to e-mail me at any time...I will enjoy a discussion with you!
Go n-éirí an bóthar leat! (Good journey!)
