ok, so my best friend, his name is leith, and we have heaps of fun together, everyone says that we are inceperable, , and at my party on friday, he was lying next to me and playing with my hair, and running his fingers against my cheek. and bitting me, and we were play fighting. and quite suddenly i realised that i am in love with him. :oNNNOOOO!!!!! i dont want to be in love with my best buddie, so anyway, i have told my other best friend Tali (she is a girl) and she said that she thinks he likes me. but i dont know....if feel like some sort of pathetic winy kid, but this is really driving me mental, so if anyone has any suggestions, there would be most welcome.

Best advice to be given. Just ask him. If you just forget about it you'll never know. And not knowing eats away at you with time. ^.^ Good luck.

i would try and find out if he likes anyone else. dont tell him you love him RIGHT away or you will freak him out. just subtly hint that there could be more just hang in there, sophie.

He was laying with you on a bed and playing with your hair? Either he likes you or he wants into your panties- take it from a person who's had a lot of male friends. Personally, I wouldn't play the 'run-around' game, asking his friends who may be just as clueless about the situation and make something up so they seem to be in the know, but I wouldn't confess undying devotion either (very stalkerish and creepy). Here's how I would have the conversation start:
YOU: You know how you were lying down with me after we were playing around and you toyed with my hair? I rather liked that..
Then you've expressed your opinion and given him an unpressured way to tell you what he was thinking about the situation. Remember: this is your friend, you don't want to force him into any position that he isn't ready for. That's not what friends do.

Are you sure it wasn't a lusty feeling? In bed, a good guy friend, very relaxed. If i didn't know any better I'd swear that lust was in the Air. I do remember that at my venerable age.>^..^<

We were best friends for over a year when I realized (first) that I had fallen in love with him. Like you, I was freaked out! At first I tried to ignore it, but it got rough, so I let him know how I felt. It didn't go over extremely well at first, but wanted to stay friends, but I started to slowly back off ... whenever he wanted to get together I was "busy" at least 3 times out of 5. LOL ... it only took about 6 weeks before he realized I was much too important to him to let me get away! We met in 1995, got "together" in 1996 and married in 2000. We did have that bit of a rough patch until he caught up with me ;D but, we both agree now that making your best friend your life partner is one of the best things you can do!

Sophie from the way you described he was playing with your hair id say that he likes you. It can be a great thing going out with your best friend. But just from my experience I did go out with my best friend for a few months and we broke up and now we are lucky if we bump into each other at the pub. We are still friends but that connection we had is gone. But saying that this weekend two of my friends who where best friends are getting married and they really do love eachother! So it can work!
