Excerpt from their Myspace Page:
While we are a musical ensamble, we are magikal ritualists first and foremost. Our music is an extension of our magik and manifestation with our totem and protector Heenun, the dragon deity of Niagara Falls, which is where we call home. The serpent energy has an interesting history.
The ancient peoples that inhabitted the region worshiped the serpent power, and it was handed down as the local deity to new migrants through time. Around the time the first European explorers, the Iroquois nation massacred the last tribe to have ties to the dragon. The Iroquois, after their victory, claimed that their sky god hero had slayed an evil, two horned serpent in an epic battle at Niagara Falls. The Iroquois had infact spread their influence throughout the entire Ohio basin, including Niagara. Their myths are full of battles with large serpents. It is obvious when you consider that the region was once the home of the Serpent mound builders, whose archaic forms of ritual practice included the worship of giant serpent power.
However the dragon energy still manifested itself many ways. In the mid 90's we began to work with and worship the dragon spirit, whose lair is in an etherial cave behind Niagara Falls. He has shown us such gratitude that we named our troupe after him, and have been enjoying a beautiful and inspiring relationship with him ever since. Again, there is much more infomation about this on our web site. In a nutshell, that is our magikal and spiritual foundation.
