my camara's not that good so the pictures are a little dark. my alter cloth is a deep purple velvet. east south west north center goddess god chalice wand sequin pentagram on the corner of my alter cloth and my mini-alter set-up for times when i'm not at school.

i love the fabric. it's such a deep, rich color.
somewhere along the line most of my magickal tools and supplies ended up being purple. it started out as a coincidence and i just decided to continue it after that because it just seemed right.
my BOS and robes are purple too. they're actually the same fabric. i'll take a picture of my BOS and post it soon. i'll get a picture of my robes when i'm at home. i don't wear them while i'm at school so i saw no point in bring them here anymore.

i love sharing. my alter is just as much art as anything else i create and i like to get other's reactions to it. i'm hoping one day to be able to make alter items for other people. it helps to know what people like. i don't like cookie cutter objects that all look the same.

i know what you mean. why have a alter at all if its like everyone else's? does it serve you as well as one that is more you? more personal energy you have the better it all will be.

exactly. it just makes more sense to personalize things. people aren't cookie cutters so why should their alters be?

When I kept an alter back in the day, I always had a problem with candle wax...Do you have that problem or have you found a way around it?

i'm not allowed to have candles at school, so it's not a problem here.
at home i mostly burn incense. when i do burn candles they're usually votives and i put them in a ceramic pinch pot (cup) i made and let them burn themselves out. it just leaves a little wax in the bottom of the cup and i'm not worried about that.

If you get a candle that is oil based, it will mostly consume itself. The tapers will drip too much. Tanath is right, that is the cleanest way to go.

i make my own, and reuse the wax to make more. so i kinda like the wax. to keep it contained i sit the candles on a plate. you can get really fancy candle plates or just use the tea size ones from your kitchen!

you can also use a nice, flat, river rock.
