"deireadh seachtaine" "Weekend" Does that go at the end? Ta se fluich anseo deireadh seachtaine? That would be "It is wet here this weekend", right?

cz like fluich mean rain not cold
fhuar(prenounced four) mean cold like Maidin Fhuar ghaofar a bhi ann- it was a cold, windy moring
Oiche gharbh stoirmiuil a bhi ann- it was a rough, stormy night
Bhi me baite go craiceann- i was soaked to the skin
(im missing the fhadas but its all the right spelling and all correctly structed sentences)
sorry but you should check where your getting your irish from
but you guys should be commended for caring so much about a sadly dying lanuage mwah[/quote]
Um no hon - fearthainn means rain - TRANSLATION: fearthainn = n rain f2 USAGE: vi: bheith ag cur fearthainne or báistí = to rain; faoin bhfearthainn, san fhearthainn = in the rain; tá sé ag cur fearthainne or báistí, tá sé ag báisteach = it's raining; foscadáin, parasóil agus scáthanna fearthainne, lena n-áirítear maidí siúil agus foscaidh, pubaill foscaidh agus a samhail = umbrellas and sunshades (including walking-stick umbrellas, umbrellas tents, and garden and similar umbrellas);
Also - báisteach which means rain or rain fall which might be more to the point here. Since he's making the statment that it rained - as in showered:
TRANSLATION: báisteach = n rainfall f2 báisteach = rain f2 báisteach = n (rain) shower f2 USAGE: bheith ag báisteach = to rain; báisteach aigéadach = acid rain; maraíodh a athair go tubaisteach air = an accident bereaveed him of his father; tá sé ag cur fearthainne or báistí, tá sé ag báisteach = it's raining;
Now on anseo, that was a typo - and no fliuch doesn't mean Rain though it can be a word that means "rainy", as I have already shown, and here was my mistake. I was thinking one word and writing another, I wrote "here" and defined "Wet" "Soaked" or "Soaking". As for cold...Who knows what was going through my head, my heart isn't really in this Forum stuff like it used to be, however I will apologize again for my mistake.
>>fliuch<< TRANSLATION: fliuch = drench fliuch = vt moisten fliuch = rainy fliuch = adj wet USAGE: n fliuchadh = drenching; vt (cloth, rag) taisrigh, fliuchaigh = dampen; fliuch go craiceann, fliuch báite = soaked to the skin; cibé faisnéis a iarrfaidh siad i ndáil le meáchain agus ceana fliuchrais na stoc tobac = such information as they may thereby require in relation to the weights and moisture contents of stocks of tobacco; ciallaíonn fliuch-am uaire a chloig breac-dhíomhaointis arb iníoctha sochar forlíontach ina leith = wet time means hours of intermittent unemployment in respect of which supplementary benefit is payable;

Looks good, but you seem to have left out the weekend part. "deireadh seachtaine" "Weekend" Does that go at the end? Ta se fluich anseo deireadh seachtaine? That would be "It is wet here this weekend", right? You wanter to say: "It rained and then snowed this weekend" It = tá Now with the rain - this is where things tend to get a bit more complicated. There are many terms in Irish that mean "rain". The problem is, what kind of rain is it? Was it a light rain? Then we'd say "brádán báistí" If it rained and then snowed perhaps it was a "biadh an tsic" which is when it rains in frosty or freezing weather, or perhaps even a fuarbháisteach earraigh given the time of year which is a cold spring shower. You'd have to take your pick here I suppose. and = agus (As in grá, solas, agus gáire or love, light and laughter) Snow or snowed = sneachta here = you guessed it! anseo! Weekend (actually end of week) = Deireadh Seachtaine Now with the part about the rain you might see why I didn't want to nit pick it much, but yeah...This should help you out some. A Dhia! Mharaíodh Cionnaith! A bhithiúnaigh! (OMG! You killed Kenny! You bastards!) ;D

It may be a form of censorship, but, this is a private forum, it's left up to the Admin of the board to do what he feels is right for the board and the moral of it's members.

My apologies Niamh - It wasn't my intention to make anyone feel censored. I said with my last post on this thread that after all had seen my last post I was going to clean up this thread. I thought all had seen it, if that wasn't the case then I apologise. I saw you had been on, and Marcus had been posting else where, I just thought everyone was OK with it. I censored myself as well, we just seemed to be getting very off topic in all our responses, myself included. If I deleted something that you'd like re-posted, please feel free to do so. I don't delete things often, but when I do, I try to make sure all know that I'm going to. I hope we can each continue to use this board, as both a discussion and learning board. I appreciate your continued activity here Niamh here on this board. Reading and writing in Irish is every bit as important to keeping these great languages alive as speaking them.

I'd like to get this going but my Irish got really rusty. I've checked into the language & found out there are three dialects. Ulster, Munster, Connacht. From what I've gathered thus far, Munster seems to be most used followed by Ulster. The dialect is a little different but I was able to pick up certain sentences between each.
