A new life....

Well, I asked Illistyl to marry me. No date set. Nothing is really even started. We are planning on having 2 weddings. One Pagan wedding & one Christian style wedding.
We're working on the small things first. Like, we need a vehicle. The loan won't go through for us as of yet. We're hoping it does. We're looking at mini-vans to support family & personal use (like transporting my drumset! lol)
What do we do now?

pop some champagne, roll a fatty and celebrate!

I say have two private small ceremonies for the mass and the handfasting and then throw one big party to celebrate with family and friends. That way you can make no one else happy but yourselves for the formal and everyone happy with the informal.

C. and I are not listening to any complaints about how we are formalizing our vows, and how we didn't do this or we didn't do that or OH, MY GOD how could you do that?? You shouldn't have to either.

Well, I hope we can generate enough $$$ for it. I want to make the handfasting the actual ceremony & not the Christian styled one her family wants....well, I'm trying to work out bugs so that my sister (a Jehovah's Witness) & my paternal uncle's family (also JW's) can go without any sort of ill feelings against their own religion. I mean, they would go to the reception but they won't go into seeing a non-JW ceremony. Thank you!

I post on this board but not quite as much as she. She is one of the beginning members of that board. Everyone there knows her, so I felt it was fitting to do it that way. Of course, I wasn't expecting everyone's response! It was amazing! Anyway, I gave her an inexpensive ring (sort of an interim ring) as the engagement ring. There is another ring that I will be getting for her later (not sure when I'll be able to get it that will be the ring I wanted give her. She hates diamonds! Which is why I did a little research & found that birthstone engagement rings have a significance to it. So, there we are! Thank you!!

I really wish I could give you some useful advice, but since I have little experience with weddings, I wouldn`t be much of a help.
However, I do think you worry too much about other people`s opinion. ..I mean that thing about double weddings...who likes it, who`s not...I know they`re your family, but don`t let the most important day of your life to amount to indulging your guest`s wishes. Besides, It is your wedding (yours and Illistyl`s) - your life, like the name of your thread, right.?

Anyway, if I can`t help you with advice, at least I can send some positive energy in your way. Let us know the exact date so we can keep you in our thoughts on that very special day.

Much like the name of my whenver I get a baby boy-Níall Aiden Murray. Very much a Celtic name but some wanted family members names. I don't do names of family members (dead or alive)
