Hi all
Tonight My thoughts are inspired by a high school that refused my son entrance to his Homecoming because I havent had the money to buy him a pair of dress shoes.
I dont go out drinking, I dont do drugs, I dont spend money like its water, yes I have the internet for my son and myself, and I have cable for my son as well.
I just bought the boy a new pair of gym shoes, or trak shoes or court shoes or what ever you call them these days, and that was to the tune of 20 bucks. and that was only because he got a size smaller then he actually needed
Now I know some people think nothing of spending 60 dollars or more on a pair of shoes, been there done that and they dont last him any longer then the 20 dollar ones
My son has a size 14 foot and if you have ever tried to price a pair of dress shoes for a teenager with that size foot, then you know that it isnt cheap. I had to borrow the money from my brother to buy these tickets and then pay him back for it.
but the money aspect of it aside, this boy is a good kid, he makes good grades, he doesnt get into trouble, and his homecoming got postponed due to the tragic death of a student on the football field at the homecoming game from an unknown heart condition.
Its the damm principal of the thing now, I honestly feel like he was discriminated against due to his shoes.
Or as I see it, my financial circumstances.
I am so furious on my son's account.
he hung on to these tickets for weeks now and was really looking forward to this dance.
And people wonder why teenagers dont trust the adults in their lives, well this kind of thing is the very reason they dont.
Adults wonder why teenagers have no respect for them, well when you are an adult and try to spout nondiscrimination and treat every one equal then turn around and make calls such as they did tonight, well all the teenagers sees is hypocrisy.
I wouldn't want to be a teenager in todays world for all the money on this planet.
They are expected to act like adults but treated with less respect and rights then someone in prison
yes as you can tell, I am on my soap box and extremely irate at the moment
but come monday, I will be at the school demanding my money back and at the school board filing a discrimination complaint.
