Hi all
well my thought of this day has been spurred by a question from
a friend of mine, who asked me if after my dedication on samhain, if I had new responsibilities and what my new name meant to me.
I suppose that I should let you all know, that I wasnt really wanting a new spiritual name and to be perfectly honest, didnt even really try to find one, choose one or even think of one.
Even though the person who helped me construct my dedication , told me that it would change and had to change.
I had chosen Flaming Silver Wolf years ago and really believed that was who I was and would remain so, however, after the ceremony when all was done, and I was just sitting around fiddling on the computer, it was like this new name had suddenly blazed across my mind like a stamp from a branding iron.
I didnt choose it, I didnt think about it, I didnt pick it, It was given to me in a pretty deffinate way lol.
As to what it means to me, well for one its very unerving if the truth be known, for as all here are aware to be a sword barer to any one of import, be it king, lord or merchant, regardless of rank or duty, is a big responsibility, but imagine what it means to be a sword barer for the goddess! yes my thoughts exactly, daunting,scary,intimidating.
But it is also an honor, it is exciting, it is humbling in its scope of what it could mean as time goes on.
I chose some pics and wrote poem , to kind of put my feelings into words, I placed it on a the birthday board I believe but I may place it here as well.
the silver part I think is just me period, and we all have heard the story of the Poenix, and its many variations, so in some respects it's self explanitory, but for me I believe it means that every day;
I will arise ready for what ever life throws at me and if in the process , I get burned to ash, I have no fear of not recovering for as long as the sun sets and the moon rises, then I will be renewed.
( yes I know the story says as long as the sun rises lol but hey this is my mind we are in at the moment lol)
and of course dedicating one self to the Goddess, brings on new responibilites on its own, and with a name such as I recieved, I shudder to think what responsibilities that might entail.
but I believe in the goddess and even though I fail to see what prompted such and honor, I have faith in her apparent faith in me.
so that has been my thought for this morning, I cant wait to see and read your thoughts and comments.
