Did the Historical Jesus Use Reiki? was he a Reiki Master? * a blog I compiled a while back*
I have just started reading a book about Reiki (As I have my level I Attunement I am trying to learn and study and pursue it...because I have a desire to heal people) ..anyway the book is called "Essential Reiki" it is by Diane Stien....and in the beginning of the book Diane does her best to talk about the origin of reiki and some of the theories surrounding it.
one of the theories , talks about Reiki comming out of mystical and esoteric forms of Bhuddisim..and that Jesus' was an Adept Bhuddist and Reiki Master...and that the historical jesus Survived the cross and lived out his days as a holy man in India.
and the theory goes on to say that scholarly information has been surpressed by the church, which reflexts more the teachings of Paul than the bhuddist influenced Jesus.
so I find this theory interesting and would like to start a discussion about it..so I put in a search and found a few internet sources that talk about this theory... but first What Is Reiki?
WHAT IS REIKI?
Taken From WWW.REIKI.ORG
A Brief Overview
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.
Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.
While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.
How Does Reiki Work?
Taken From WWW.REIKI.ORG
We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body though pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. The life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings. It becomes disrupted when we accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about ourselves.
These negative thoughts and feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause a disruption in the flow of life force. This diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away.
In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
Do All Healers Use Reiki? All healers use life force or Ki, but not all use Reiki. Reiki is a special kind of life force that can only be channeled by someone that has been attuned to it. It is possible that some people are born with Reiki or have gotten it some other way. However, most healers who have not received the Reiki attunement from a Reiki Master are not using Reiki but another kind of life force. People who already do healing work consistently report an increase of at least fifty percent in the strength of their healing energies after taking the Reiki training.
This was verified for me when I first began teaching Reiki. There were two clairvoyant healers I knew who had highly developed abilities. They could easily see the life force flowing through a person's body, as well as see the aura and chakras. They could also communicate with a person's guides and Higher Self. They were adept at moving negative psychic energy out of the body as well as channeling healing energies.
In my twenty years of metaphysical work, they were the most accurate and effective psychic healers I had met. They told me later they had doubted there was anything I was teaching they couldn't already do, but that they took the Reiki training anyway, simply to support me in my new work. After the attunement, they were amazed at the difference they could feel between the healing energies they had been using and Reiki. They said the Reiki energies were more powerful and of a much higher frequency. They noted also that Reiki didn't have to be guided like the other healing energies they were using, and that the Reiki energies began flowing without having to enter an altered state.
They also indicated the attunement process itself was a powerful healing experience, releasing restrictions relating to their healing work they had unknowingly acquired when they were healers in past lives. They were very pleased they had taken the class.
Reiki Can Never Cause Harm Because Reiki is guided by the God-consciousness, it can never do harm. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create the effect that is appropriate for them. One never need worry about whether to give Reiki or not. It is always helpful. In addition, because the practitioner does not direct the healing and does not decide what to work on, or what to heal, the practitioner is not in danger of taking on the karma of the client. Because the practitioner is not doing the healing, it is also much easier for the ego to stay out of the way and allow the presence of God to clearly shine through.
Energy is Never Depleted Because it is a channeled healing, the Reiki practitioner's energies are never depleted. In fact, the Reiki consciousness considers both practitioner and client to be in need of healing, so both receive treatment. Because of this, giving a treatment always increases one's energy and leaves one surrounded with loving feelings of well-being.
Similarities between the Healing of Jesus and Reiki
TAKEN FROM REIKI.ORG
by William Lee Rand
John 14-12: "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me, can do the same miracles I have done, and even greater things than these will you do."
One of the outstanding aspects of Jesus' life was the miracles he worked. According to the Bible, Jesus walked on water, fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fishes, changed water to wine and raised people from the dead. However, the most meaningful of his miracles were the healings he performed. These healings include: paralysis, lameness, fever, catalepsy, hemorrhage, skin disease, mental disorders, spirit possession, deafness and blindness. Many of these healings were accomplished by the laying on of hands.
This is indicated frequently in the New Testament, Luke 4:40 states: "When the Sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hand on each one, he healed them."
In Matthew 8:14-15, Jesus uses touch to heal Peter's mother-in-law of a fever. In Mark 1:40-42 Jesus uses his hands to heal a man with leprosy. This is also mentioned in Luke 5:12-13. Matthew 20:29-34 describes how Jesus healed two blind men by touching their eyes and in Mark 8:22-25 Jesus uses his hands to heal another blind man. In Mark 7:32 35 he uses touch to heal a man who is deaf and can't speak. In Luke 7:12-15, Jesus raises a dead man by touching his coffin and in Luke 8:49-55 Jesus uses touch to return a dead girl to life.
There are many similarities between the laying on of hands healing Jesus did and the practice of Reiki. One important similarity is the fact that Jesus could pass the power to heal on to others which is similar to the Reiki attunement process. We read in Luke 9:1-2 that Jesus gave his twelve disciples power to drive out all demons and to cure diseases. We do not know by what process Jesus gave healing power to his disciples, but the fact that he was able to pass it on to them indicates an important similarity with Reiki.
Another aspect of Jesus' healing practice that is similar to Reiki relates to faith. While faith was required for many of the healings he performed, it appears that the healings Jesus did with his hands did not require faith. Mark 6:5-6 states: "He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith." So, in spite of the fact that they did not believe, Jesus was still able to use laying on of hands to heal. This is one of the important aspects of Reiki: It does not require faith on the part of those receiving a treatment in order for the Reiki to work.
The fact that Jesus had secret teachings he gave only to those who he had given healing power is clearly indicated in Matthew 13:10-11 and Mark 4:10-12 & 34. Secret knowledge is also part of the Reiki teachings in that the symbols as well as the process of doing attunements are traditionally kept secret and only made available to those who take a Reiki class. It is not known whether Jesus was born with the ability to heal through touch or if this was something he acquired.
His activities between age twelve and thirty are not mentioned in the Bible. It has been suggested by several researchers that during this time Jesus traveled to the East and was schooled in many of the mystical teachings of India, Tibet and China. If this is so, it is possible that Jesus was initiated into a healing technique, during this time. On the other hand, it is possible that Jesus was taught directly by God or the Holy Spirit or simply had these abilities from birth.
There is some good information indicating that the healing methods of Jesus were preserved by the Church of the East and passed on by it's missionaries who traveled along the Silk Road and other trade routes to India, Tibet and China. It is possible that this information on healing could have been incorporated into the religious teachings of the East and therefore could have been the original source of the Reiki techniques that were used by Dr. Usui.
The early followers of Jesus' teachings were made up of several groups. One such group was the Gnostics. They practiced laying on of hands and professed to have a secret knowledge that had been passed on to them by Jesus and his disciples. The Gnostics were made up of many smaller groups some of which were known as the Docetists, the Marcionites, and the Carpocratians. They were united by their core beliefs which included: a personal experience of Jesus or the "kingdom of heaven within, " their freedom and lack of rules, guidelines or creeds and their reliance on inspiration and inner guidance. Their existence is attested to by the Gnostic gospels which are part of the Nag Hamadi Library which was discovered in Egypt in 1959.
The fact that Jesus had additional teachings not recorded in the Bible is attested to in a letter written in the second century AD by the early Church father, Clement of Alexandria. In Clement's letter, he spoke of a secret gospel of Mark which was based on the normal canonical one but with additions for special followers of Jesus, referred to as "those who were being perfected" and "those who are being initiated into the great mysteries." When Christianity became organized after the second century, its teachings were centered around faith and the official teachings of the church, rather than healing or "good works" and inner guidance as practiced by the Gnostics. At this time, those promoting the organization of the church began subduing and banishing those Gnostics who would not conform to the authority of the newly developing Church.
In addition they tried to destroy the Gnostic gospels. With the elimination of the Gnostics and the establishment of the Official Christian Church, the practice of laying on hands by lay Christians was strongly discouraged. Jesus possessed great confidence in his ability and was able to heal in an instantaneous way with spectacular results. It is clear that he had perfected many skills and used them in conjunction to get the results he created. Clearly the Bible indicates that he did healing by laying on hands and also indicated that we could do the same. The teachings of Jesus, as well as the example he set are a great inspiration for us.

Jesus said, "All that I do, you shall do and more." Both Jesus and the Buddha did hands on healing. Reiki is a hands on healing that allows us to channel the same Universal Life Force Energy that these two Avatars (a person who has made God consciousness and was born onto the Earth plane) used while on Earth.
Reiki is divine assistance that we may use on ourselves, our loved ones, clients, fellow workers, cars, radios, washing machines, forests, jungles, all species, Mother Earth, all situations. Reiki is about being love, sending love, healing relationships. And... we have relationships with everyone and everything.
Reiki helps us embrace our humanity and supports us in unfolding into our divinity. It is an energy of the healing heart. We can consciously be channeling this compassionate energy all the time. Reiki is a foolproof system of healing. You cannot do it wrong because you are not doing it anyway. With Reiki we become humble instruments for the energy of God - Goddess. The Reiki attunements gives confidence to the practitioner that the Divine Creative Essence and Wisdom are with them to heal any situation in their lives. This gives permission to get out of the way and allow it to happen.

Wake up reikians, hear the mercy call of Jesus Christ.
These warnings and conclusions are not to reject you, dear reikian, we love you in Christ, God loves you and sand His only begotten Son..to the cross for all of us. We like to share with you what we know for a fact and we know that reiki works, how it works, but it is not what it seems to be. A clear conclusion out of all these different denominated Christian Churches websites is, whether Catholic, or Evangelical, or Protestant, or Pentecostal , they are ALL telling you the same thing about reiki! Yes, even a saved ex-reikimaster and for many years member of the renowned Reiki Alliance International….they are ALL warning you and ALL of them are stating from different angles and out of their practical experiences in their daily life of serving God and living in this world:
• that reiki works, but is non biblical and sinful.
• that reiki clearly never was, nor could have been used by Jesus Christ. Although every reikimaster and reiki book is claiming that reiki was the healing method of the Lord.
• that many reikimasters are initiating Christians into reiki and are telling them that reiki is safe and the Lord Jesus Christ was probably a reikimaster, as they are.
• that reiki is denying that Jesus Christ, is the son of God, His work on the Cross and His resurrection. But lures people in reiki seminars by stating that you can learn to heal like Jesus did and after the seminar no-one talks anymore about Him, explaining that reiki is not a religion.
• that reikians were serving and creating half-gods in reiki, by giving the glory of any healing to reiki as a spiritual entity above them. Are feeling "called" to convert anybody into a reikian and are practicing reiki upon others without asking or warning them.
• that reiki can be used to manipulate and nowadays is mixed with other forms of the occult as, white-magic, black magic, witchcraft and satanism.
• that to undo the reiki initiations, you will need a biblical baptism and a lot of praying, Up to several sessions of deliverance, to be set free totally, in Jesus Name, depending on how deep one was involved into the occult and into reiki
• that Christian experience proves that any active 2nd degree reikian and every reikimaster needs a full biblical baptism, exco...a lot of strong prayers, to be set free totally, in Jesus name, in the mercy of God it's possible!!
