it would be a shame to leave all this behind, all the work thats been put into this place to make it so special...even if sen said the work wouldnt be lost, because its goin to go into the rebuilding of the new place, the things that have happened here, the laughs, twil be a bit hard to walk away from it to start over all again, without the real need. but, then again, starting again could be fun. .... just have to make sure no ones left behind!

You make my heart smile with thoughts like that... lol, but, the simple truth of the matter is, you will lose people.. Some people are creatures of habit, and don't like change.... You'll be able to attract new members, but, Like I said, Pro's and Con's.... A move is going to require alot from everyone.... it's just something to think about... Blessings to all, lala

C'mon ya'll...this has been the goal all along hasn't it?

well i for one always like to do new things. i feel that this jump would be great as long as the core of paganmystics stays the same. i know that i have not been on as much of late, but i had a hand in the start of paganmystics. i was of the original four. anywho... i know that some have trepidation about moving, but lets give it a shot.
BTW i want a new and damn sexy avatar please miss gothikk. pretty please!

And, By this I see, that as long as the original Four people want to go through with the move, then what the rest of us feel about it means absolutely nothing... As I told you before John, what I think does not matter, I am but an outsider here.... I'll not move with the site... I do hope however that if there are any of us that would choose to stay at Pro Boards that we would be allowed to do that.... Kris

Well, this is all certainly a surprise, to say the least. First, I wish I had known before I’d continued to do so much work here, given that you are now saying it will all be lost. Second, it seems to be to be leaping before we look. The new board seems more of the same to me, not less.
I am all for growth and change. At the same time, change for the sake of change is not productive. I cannot say I welcome the thought of leaving all the work I’ve done over the past months behind. I have given my heart and soul to Pagan Mystics and done all I can do to keep it going for you, John. That's not easy to leave behind.
I suppose I will have more thoughts when I get over the shock of this news.

*smiles* I'm happy to see so many people voicing their opinions on this, it means that you care about your community. This is a very good thing. lala I'm the first to say that EVERY opinion matters, because this is YOUR home as well. I do agree that there is a LOT of work done here, and it really would be a shame to lose so much of it by starting over. Although IF the choice is made to move, the moving the database over is not an option. I could however go through each post and move it over by cut and paste. I don't really like that idea, because it would appear on the boards like I was the original poster, and this would take credit away from the creator or thinker of said posts. I really do understand the reluctance to move to a different site. *smiles* I am not here to sway anyone's opinions or try to take anyone's home away from them. My personal goal in this was to not only find a home for myself, but to share my expressions, creations and abilities with the community. Yes there is a motive behind it, word of mouth advertising for myself. So I won't pretend I'm totally innocent in this. I will be up front with my intentions. I have spoken with John about the ideas he's had for Pagan Mystics, and one of those was to eventually have Pagan Mystics with it's own domain name (a www.paganmystics.com = domain name). lala mentioned pro's n con's of moving, and she's absolutely right, there is good and bad in everything. I will try and list those here, from an objective point of view. Own domain name: Pro's - You would have access to the database if anything should ever happen, you would be able to repair or move or expand the features offered. (Will get into this a lil later.) Expanding is always an option with your own domain. Con's - Moving to your own domain will cause you to lose the work already put into the site, unless the community works together and reposts the things that mean something to you. Chat: Pro's - If the community moves, there is a chat room all set up and ready for use. The chat room offers many different features -- * Private chat or Private Messaging * The ability to create your own public/private rooms * If you create a public/private room, YOU are the moderator of that room, YOU control who stays and goes and YOU create the atmosphere for that room. Con's - because proboards doesn't allow you access to your server files, you are not allowed to create a chat room specifically for Pagan Mystics. If you link into a chat room, it will not be linked into the headers of each page. Ihrian mentioned earlier about the other site having more smilies available. I would consider this one of the other benefits of moving. Because I have access to the server files, I can upload additional smilies. It just is another feature that helps make YOUR community YOUR community. Personalizing the community. The more interactive you can be with the place you call home the more interested you're going to be in it. As with the smilies, there is also the option of offering avatars for members to choose from. If members of your community create avatars, they are welcome to share with me and have them uploaded to the website so all members can choose from those offered. Themes - running the website on your own server, allows you to have multiple themes. This allows each user to pick and choose how he or she wants the page to look. This is done by customizing their own profiles. So those who like the pink frilly fluffies can have theirs and those who like the flaming skulls can have theirs as well. The things you currently see on the other site now are just the things I've added to reflect here. There are so many other options available and so many ways the community can expand, it's impossible to list everything here. Really, it means there are no limitations on anything. Of course, having someone who is available immediately on the site (me - the local nerd) to help with things and make sure everything works and is running the right way or to just answer basic questions is always a plus. The biggest con is the loss of information, and the loss of many of the current members because of the move. I agree. I'm not sure the pro's can outweigh this fact. As I said, I'm not here to sway anyone or move anyone out of what they feel is "Home". If anyone has any questions or wants more information on something in particular I'm happy to answer where I can.

Well, I chose to do a reading for the group, and it's state....
Beaver-Productiveness: Go ahead and JUST DO IT... It's time to get more productive here... We all need to get to work on things
Buffalo_Abundance:YOU ARE PROVIDED FOR in all ways... Everything that we need is here, there is absolutely no reason to think that we need more than what we already have...
Dove-Serenity: SLOW DOWN, pause and breathe... Stop with the rushing into things, right now is a time of calm that we should be enjoying...If we rush blindly into something, we'll love the peace and the serenity...
Wolf-Guardian: YOU ARE SAFE AND protected at all times... Things are good, we are safe right now. We have a secure place right now, to move into territory that is not safe would be unwise...
Porcupine-Innocence: FREE YOURSELF of guilt and shame (the Porcupine shows himself upside down, meaning that this is an area that needs work...) Stop worrying about what hasn't been working here, there was a loss of innocence, but, this is still a good place to be, do we want to change it?
Lizard-Dreamtime: Pay attention to your DREAMS AND VISIONS.. in this case, listen to your people.. what it is that they are saying
Elephant-Resolve: You will OVERCOME ANY OBSTACLES... an elephant can not be easily moved if it doesn't want to be... Dont' try to force it, you'll just be met with more resistance...

and another thing i guess is that ppl would lose their post counts. not a big deal of course, coz we'd be starting over.
i think its good that paganmystics is going to be our own, no rules on what we can do, nothing to hold us back. surely if we moved we could only grow, not go backwards. everyone moves house everynow and then, i know i have 9 times now, in 15 years. it takes a few weeks to get settled in, and everything in its new place. only difference is that the only thing we're taking with us is our members, and the memories of what happened here. if we threw out everything and started over in a real house, itd mean getting new furniture, but losing treasured things like photos and presents and things. but if we really want specific posts, we can copy and paste them onto our own computers, cant we? i dunno, i think its great.
