I blame society. People believe what they are told. Why do you think bush controls america? in my class there is one girl who decides what the others are going to do. if she likes a song, everyone else likes it. she is never with out at least 2 other followers. if you disagree with her, you are an outcast, and no one must talk to you or else they to will become unpopular. if this girl likes something, so does everyone else. you get the idea. do any of you people have similar situations and how do you deal with them? i tend to be polite with this girl, but i dont like her. ;D

LOL People do love control and it seems to be very addictive. I never realy had good friends at school or where I had lived, we mostly kept to ourselfs, so it didn't bother us much what others did at those times. You can be fair with her, just don't let her take advantage of you.

I would like to say that the US is under the sway of Bush, by default. He cheated to get in, continues to lie (big surprise) to remain in. He is a puppet to more powerful government sources. I used to deal with the "popular kids" at school by flying in under their radar. I had my own group of friends, we ignored them too. Even in classes we had no interaction. They continue to exist because they believe in their own popularity, other people feed their egos. I would continue ignoring her, don't call attention to yourself. >^-.-^<

A long time ago, when I was in high school, it was the same way. Hard to remember that it is not the entire world but the beginning of who you are. I just tried to be nice to everyone. Met up with a girl, who had been seriously overweight and 'tortured' in high school by the cool kids. She was svelte, gorgeous and happy AND remembered that I'd been kind to her. I'd forgotten all about that.
Yes, Stormcat, Bush lied and cheated his way in but we let him do so and continue to allow it. Ever try to walk 'against' a determined flock of sheep? It ain't easy but some of us are trying!

lol yeah. scare tactics are mostly what bush used to get power.
i find that with this girl ( i wont say her name but i will call her "queen bee") my own group of friends both admire and hate at the same time. then again my "friends" do kinda bug me and are really bitchy also. everyone is bitchy at my school. queen bee just holds the most power.
i think this sort of situation happens in a lot of other places than school, though.

Ah the sheep defense! That's what I always say I never want to be. It's easier to get past peer pressure as you get older. Especially if your not part of a church, or a civic group. Hey maybe the pressures of HS made me shy away from organized groups. Thank you "popular kids." >^-.-^<

School is your life at their age and it is so hard to be different. But, my kids are not sheep and proud of it! I know a lot of adults who are still worried about what other people think, to the point that it rules their entire lives. I used to tell my mom that everyone else was too busy with their lives to consider if her hair was perfect, etc. She never got over it... As for the sheep, I just beep my wheelchair horn for them to get out of the way...

I always find school very interesting because of the kind of "politics" in it lol. I never get involved. im just a bystander watching the show!
But then sometimes when im doing things im always very aware of what others are thinking and how they will react to what i do. This sometimes changes the way i do things. But it always annoys me afterwards lol.

My oldest child and my younger were quite popular at school. They were as far as I know kind to other students. My middle child was a "black sheep", she seemed to revel in this. The two others are happy and successful as adults, middle child is still trying to find her way in the world. The children have very limited contact with their HS peers. So it's true that you don't need to worry about those harassers, they'll move on....to torment other adults!!! >^..^<
