An Fhírinne in aghaidh an tSaoil!
(the truth facing the world!)
In the book of Leinster we are given a set of laws put to a newly crowned Pictish King by the Brehon Druid Morann mac Moín, and these are as follows...
"It is through the truth of a ruler (Fír flathemon) that great plagues and great lightnings are kept from the people.
It is through the truth of a ruler that he judges great tribes and great riches.
It is through the truth of a ruler that he secures peace, tranquility, joy, ease and comfort.
It is through the truth of a ruler that he dispatches battalions to the borders of hostile neighbors.
It is through the truth of a ruler that every heir plants his house post in his fair inheritance.
It is through the truth of a ruler that abundances of great tree fruit of great wood are tasted.
It is through the truth of a ruler that milk yields of great cattle are maintained.
It is through the truth of a ruler that there is abundance for every high tall corn.
It is through the truth of a ruler that abundances of fish swim in the streams.
It is through the truth of a ruler that fair children are well begotten."
These as I said are the "Geis" laid on the High King by his Druid. Here each elder must take the mentality of a King and take the responsibility for not only the group but each of its people, and every knowledge that is to be found within it's confines. Each one of these laws or Geis have a very specific meaning and application here as well. I hope all will take the time to read these and understand what they mean, so that the elders can live them, and so the people can expect them of their rulers.
As a ruler you are the voice of your people to the eyes of other kings, you are married to the land, and your responcibility is first and foremost to your people and new nation...Don't dwell on the debates, even our fore father's squabbled among themselves when they built a new nation...But remember always the ever watching eyes of your people.
