I'm extremely fond of Scott Cunningham and Ray Buckland. They're good starter books. After you get the basics, you can decide what else interests you. Fairies, crystals, divination, green magick. There are so many areas to study. I guess that's why I'm an Eclectic, like alittle of this and a little of that! Blessings to you!>^..^<

Try a book store with a coffee bar. Get a pile of books and a cup of coffee (or green tea) and browse before you buy. Whatever the subject, read the forward and a bit of the first chapter. You'll get a good feel if it is for you or not.
Oh, and reviews on Amazon.com help, too!

You will here alot of negative about the Author of that book now but 6 years ago, there was alot of praise for her then, I am still a bit lost as to what happened to turn the tides against her and by her own peers it seems To ride a silver broomstick is a basic beginner type book and you may be past that but it helped me at a time when I needed it

He has problems with anything that breaks the secret. I feel that we need to break the secrecy to get acceptance. to go back to topic...I also like Ravenwolf, Buckland and Cunningham, and I add the farrars and Cantrell. Those are good authors to start on and then branch on from there. Pull stuff from the bibliographies that seem interesting. Have fun!

The first few books I read on Wicca were also Silver RavenWolf's three part series that started with "To ride A Silver Broom Stick". I did think the books were pretty good because they made me think about what I was going to do. I know a lot of people don't like her and say that she has plagerized some of her work but sometimes that happens. Also they sometimes don't like her because they say her writing is lacking. But from my expereince they were ok starter books. But my Favorite starter books so far are "Phoenix From the Flame" by Vivianne Crowley and those by Scott Cunningham. Hope this helps a little bit. fireraven

my suggestion would be to buy them online from a sight like ebay. it'll be cheaper that way and if you don't like the book you're out less money and you can always sell it the same way.

I would recomend Scott Cunnigham.....Wicca, a guide for the solitary practitioner and Living wicca. I really love these books they have everything you need to get further.
