Druidcraft is a spiritual practice that embraces elements of both druidry and wicca. It is also the title of a book written about the same topic by Philip Carr-Gomm (ISBN 000713388X). This book deals with the combination of druidry and wicca in a new, combined practice. Within this book, Carr-Gomm claims that the differences between Wicca and Druidry do not stem from hundreds or thousands of years worth of tradition as these two distinct paths evolved separately. He claims that in fact the differences between modern Wicca and Druidism are due to the differences between two friends who were deeply involved with these paths less than 75 years ago. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DruidcraftDruidry and Wicca are the two great streams of Western Pagan tradition. Both traditions are experiencing a renaissance all over the world, as more and more people seek a spirituality rooted in a love of nature and the land. Increasingly, readers are combining the ideas and practices of both traditions to craft their own spiritual practice, and in this down-to-earth, inspiring guide Philip Carr-Gomm offers a name for this Path that draws on the common beliefs and practices of Wicca and Druidry: Druidcraft. Druidcraft draws on the traditions of scholarship, storytelling, magical craft and seasonal celebration of both Druids and Wiccans, to offer inspiration, teachings, rituals, and magical techniques that can help you access your innate powers of creativity, intuition and healing. philipcarrgomm.druidry.org/books_druidcraft.htm

Though I must admit I am very interested in how it operates, which traditions are blended, and how they're put into practice.

Can you slap them?...Then do it again just for good measure? I have the deepest respects for the path of Wicca, and I have the deepest respect for those who blend it with Druidry...Can you slap them though? Pretty please? ;D

Mmmm...
I can see where they'd bind together.
revivalist druidry is mostly Qaballah mixed with native Gods.
And Wicca owes alot of its Ritual roots to Qaballism.
Fair dues to the initiates for making their own way anyway

Fair dues to the initiates for making their own way anyway Well, there is no doubt in my mind that Wicca (as in BTW Alexandiran etc. Which of course came before the others) is a hybrid religion which embodies many distict and seperate paths, and philosophies. Cabalism would undoubtedly be one on that list. However I personally have never used the Caballa as a Druid, though I gave it *some* study as a Wiccan.

*blushes* Sorry, I'm a newbie....What is the difference(s) between Druidry and Wicca? One is passed down to us from ancient celtic philosophy and the other isn't. Traditional Druidry is a reconstructionist path and isn't an ecclectic path, where as Wicca can be and sometimes is.

" However to some extent things can be compatible, for instance Wicca and Druidry, I know people that combine the two quite well - however this is more to do with Druidry the non-religious path (as in modern druidry was birthed from Christian druidry, and then a more Gardnerian influenced druidry, to the more Celtic now - with people picking and choosing the religion, and using Druidry as the interface), and Wicca as the religion." (my bold-face) (quoted from www.pagan-network.org/forums/showthread.php?p=196585, in response to a question about the feasibility of studying two 'paths' simultaneously) I wonder if this is also the basis of the thinking behind druidcraft? I've never before heard druidry described as being from Christianity and Gardner, let alone in the same sentence!

Ha, I just heard from the Senior Druid at the local grove. He said he doesn't have a problem with my "Eclectic Paganism." I got the feeling it wasn't ok and I'll probably be dropped from their contact list. He more or less said Eclecticism is bits and pieces from different areas and really isn't one of it's own. So I guess I'll ask to start an area here for us Eclectic rejects. >^-.-^<
